A few defensive people, but I'll try to make this brief.
I'm not disputing Spurs have some decent players, they very clearly do, I just think some of our fans go overboard.Originally posted by Gibbo View Post
I'm not about to kiss Spurs' arse, but I honestly wouldn't mind LLoris, Walker, Vertonghen, Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele, Bale or Soldado.
I'd be pretty pleased if we signed any of them actually.
From that list:
Lloris: Excellent keeper, but my preference still would have been Pepe, supported by the fact he had more clean sheets and a better defensive record last year. Obviously he's gone now (
) and Lloris looks better than Mignolet, but we'll see how they compare as the season progresses.
Walker: Not for me. Decent player, but not in the same league as Johnson IMO.
Vertonghen: Very good first season and a lot better than I had expected. Would have him ahead of Enrique at LB, but wouldn't drop Agger for him.
Sandro: A big fan of his actually, but not sure I would drop Gerrard or Lucas to fit him in.
Paulinho: Already confessed I know little of him, but even if he does have good pedigree, it remains to be seen if he's suited the the PL.
Dembele: Another good player who I wouldn't mind having here, would pick him ahead of Henderson, Allen etc., but again not at the expense of Gerrard, Lucas or Countiho (if playing centrally).
Bale: It's close between him and Downing, but if I take my rose tinted specs off, Bale maybe just shades it. he he : )
Soldado: Will be surprised if he's as effective as Sturridge, never mind Suarez.
I think that's maybe my problem. Not that I don't rate Spurs, but I pick up on on the posts from posters like as Chris says are always seem to be moaning about our players, yet raving about Spurs. It used to happen with United and I argued then too, but at least that was justified as United were successful, but as far as I'm aware Spurs have won f*ck all and I'm putting money on them continuing that trend.Originally posted by PTP View Postlol - i'm one of the the people raving about spurs excellent team
in fact i think i said it's very solid/looks decent
however, i don't really moan too much about our current players, maybe criticise Borini and don't think much of allen
however from their squad
I'd take Friedel as a no.2 over jones
I'd defo take vertonghan
Kyle Walker doesn't look too bad, though we are ok at RB though i'd prob take ekotto or rose as left back cover
i'd probably be interested in Sandro and Paulinho
i'd be all over dembele, bale lennon, even defo and adebayor would improve our overall squad
I've covered most of the players mentioned above, but not sure I'd take Lennon with Sterling and even Ibe coming through. I know they've a lot to prove and right now Lennon is probably the better player, but their potential is much greater than Lennon's. Also not sure where Defoe or Adebayor would fit in if Suarez and Sturridge are here. Not sure I'd take Adebayor regardless actually.
This post is a bit silly Shaggy. Nobody is saying we can't rate players from other teams and I'm sure Elricho was only joking about the forum. But as Chris suggested, there are some fans that are happy to moan about us at every opportunity and are all over every bit of Spurs news as if they are the saviours of football. (And no I won't provide examples FiveX as it's just a general observation and I couldn't be arsed starting a whole debate by quoting certain people)Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI don't really see why if a few people happen to rate another club's players/squad that it gives other people the impression they're on that club's forum

It's as if we're only allowed to rate our own players - they are the bestest in the whole wide world - and everyone else has to be wank.
A few examples away from quality of players even. Early on in the Suarez/Madrid saga, people to pointing to the wonderful Spurs and how they were handling things and how saint Gareth wouldn't leak any information to the press, only that cunt Suarez would try and encourage a move to Madrid. Look how that's panning out now.
. Even in the January transfer window, the likes of LDP was all over the twitter thread boasting how great Spurs were gonna be with all these players they were gonna sign, yet they signed nobody bar Holtby who would have joined in the summer anyway. As it turns out, we probably did the best business in the league in January, but you wouldn't have thought it at the time.
This is a football forum and everyone has their right to an opinion, I just don't get all the fuss with Spurs, I get enough of it with the delusional Spurs fans I know.
Edit: This has probably not been explained very well, but it’s a hurried reply. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Well I’d only read the last page, maybe I should go back and judge for myself.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostWell I thought claiming this thread is like a Spurs forum was a bit silly too.

Rod. Tool. Sad. Bore..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Maybe I should have added a smiley or something to my original post. It was meant to be partly tongue-in-cheek, I wasn't have a go really (okay, a little bit maybe....)Originally posted by Shaggy View PostWell I thought claiming this thread is like a Spurs forum was a bit silly too...because it's nothing like a Spurs forum. Just some people rate some of their players.

my point anyway
- was i was trying to compare the two squads overall - like you I mentioned Walker, i actually do rate walker, but we're strong at right back with Johnson and kelly/wisdom
also - whilst i agree, i probably wouldn't take Lloris over Mignolet/Reina - i'd certainly take Friedel over Jones.
And Defoe/Adebayor - similar situation if they were to sign soldado then they would be their 'squad' strikers - so whilst i wouldn't swap Defoe/Adebayor for Sturridge/Suarez - i'd certainly consider them over Borini and who knows maybe Aspas though it is early days for him.
that was the point i was trying to make, that imo Spurs have done a very good job over the last few years of climbing the table, improving the squad, appear to have been well managed off the pitch - i just think fair play to them.
for go knows how long. The top four no matter what was Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, United.
Even when Liverpool had a **** season, and whoever was 5th had a great season - the top four stayed the top four and we'd finish 4th.
However that top 4 doesn't exist anymore
City got billionaire owners which allowed them to gatecrash - and Spurs, have also caught up and compete.
As it stands right now, imo, spurs are in a stronger position to finish above us and other than rose tinted glasses I find it hard to see how anyone could see it another way. Thats not arse licking spurs or being a cunt of a LFC fan being all depressed and ****ty, i just feel they look in a better position. (this could all change for better or worse depending on what happens in the remainder of the transfer window)
thats a team who only a few years back under ramos looked like it could go downi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

credit where credit is due.. was always going to be a tough task for any other team to break into that top 4.. Spurs have done a good job in making a genuine challegene for it last 4 seasons or so.
Absolutely nothing wrong with giving credit where it's due

It will be very interesting to see how the squads compare come September. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

if we can keep suarez or sell him an buy a top replacement quickly
plus add a top centre mid and maybe even a centre half, then i'd think we'd be in a strong position to kick on
alternatively, Spurs could cash in on Bale for £85m - and then blow the money on ****e
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

As I said before, big if, but if we still have Suarez and Countiho next year and Lucas and Agger stay fit for the majority of the season, I think we'll have a great season and easily qualify for the CL.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

in our wildest dreams I cannot see us Easily qualifying for the CL. City and Chelsea are definite in my opinion and hopefully Moyes can implode at Scum. Even then that would leave 4 teams competing for 2 spots no way will we be easily ahead of those!_____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
