Thanjk you.

I'd be disappointed if we went for Soldado full stop. Disappears for large chunks of the game, requires space beyond the defence to run into. He doesn't press, doesn't move into channels to add fluidity to the team. Valencia absorb pressure and play the counter attack. We don't. He's also very wasteful, despite bagging a number of goals.
I hope the stories are false. I'd rather we went for Alexis Sanchez, who, despite myself not rating him that much during his time at Barcelona, would be a better option for this team than Soldado.
I'm basing my opinion on having watched a large chunk of Valencia's games, and seeing Soldado stray offside repeatedly, not getting involved in the build-up play, and then the chances arrives, he puts shots wide. Those stats do not take into account these kind of shots.
In my opinion, we can be a lot more resourceful with the £20m+ it'd take to bring a 28 year old Soldado here. There must be a reason why no one else has touched him when Valencia have been selling.
I'm definitely not concerned about the effects of us not signing him, and those of Spurs signing him. He is a good player, but not a great one and for that fee it is actually insane. He does have a good scoring ratio and works hard, but he has limitations. He misses a lot of chances, and goes on huge droughts, I remember a couple of seasons ago he went something like 3 months without scoring. His stats looked good because he scored 4 goals, then a brace or something like that, however in that season he was largely outplayed by Aduriz. Obvously scoring hatricks isn't a bad thing, but when you consider he'll often get more than 1 when he gets on the scoresheet shows how long he can sometimes go without finding the net. A large percentage of his goals will also be penalties (they don't inflate his numbers as much as some (Falcao) but it still makes a big difference).
His all around play is pretty average and he is a big moaner when it comes to refs. Picks up several cards a season for complaining.
He is a good goalscorer and he's currently in his prime, but the fees being mentioned are insane. Considering the price of Soldado and Negredo, we did some very good business for Aspas. Especially as I'm sure Valencia or Sevilla would've picked him up now as a replacement if he were still available. However, we can't really compare them at this stage as Soldado and Negredo have been consistently playing and scoring in top flight football. Aspas had a great season in Segunda and did well last season, one would expect that making the step up to Liverpool should make give him the opportunity to perform better and improve - propelling himself into the Soldado/Negredo level.
In all honesty Soldado was pretty wank this season overall. Then he scored 12 goals or so in the last 8 games which have made his season look a lot better than it was with 18 league goals although he went through long scoring droughts.
Phoenix07, seeing we're patting ourselves on the back. I remember writing a post somewhere on here slating him but can't find it. Having said that, I thought Aspas was a good investment, his form back at Celta now is proving that. I guess he's just not cut to play for another club as he was pretty dire for Sevilla too.
Soldado is not to my liking, but he has done well this season. He's playing a different role too, he's made quite a lot of assists.
