Valuations are just arbitrary judgements we make. We all do it and normally we have a feeling for what a players worth based on talent, age, experience, length of contract etc. My feeling is that Costa is worth about £10m, not £20m+

Ha! The first bit, you're right.

On the second bit, looking at Costa at the age of 24 with close to 100 games in La Liga and a capped Brazilian international, it's not hard to see why he's worth around £20m.

It's all about the value he brings to the team though. If he's a part of the managers plans and we land him, i'm happy whatever he costs.

I wasn't saying those things mean he's the next Pele or anything, just that I can't imagine you'd get someone from a medium to large club like Athletico, at that age, with that experiences, for much less than £20m.

I was hoping for a more agile, silky skilled player for the attacking role that Rodgers said he wanted to solve. Having said that, if we pull this off I can see him doing a similar job to what Kuyt provided when he played under Rafa as a wide forward. They have similar attributes but Costa has more ability imo.
