Haha, the death knell of sport gets nearer. I don't have sky or BT. I see very little premier league stuff and now I'll see little European action either. I'm getting older so it doesn't bother me too much. But like the cricket, there's generations growing up without easy access to sport. In a market place already over crowded to grab youngsters attention, the fact that a lot of kids won't see it will mean they move onto something else. It may be ten to twenty years before we see the effect in full.

Virgin at its full rate is expensive, but they do good deals for Sky customers switching. When I switched I got internet, phone and full TV package for £60 a month for six months (half price). Free installation too. But then of course it's £120 a month at full price which I am now paying. Expensive but I no longer get phone bills, which is nice.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostI'm thinking it might be time for a change and I do hate SkyThanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I've binned the XL package and the sport so I'm down to £33 per month now for TV, phone and broadband. £120 is a lot.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostVirgin at its full rate is expensive, but they do good deals for Sky customers switching. I think I pay about £90 for two HD boxes with full channels phone and internet. I'll see what sort of deal I can get out of them, fancy they'll be throwing things around to try and poach sky customers.
The phone is only used for the internet here anyway, don't even bother with having a phone plugged in anymore

This is a massive pain in the arse.
Aside from the 18 or so premier league games BT Sport have there was never a compelling argument to upgrade to BT Sport to switch telephone services to BT.
This blows a massive hole in Sky's footballing schedule. I'd be more compelled to watch just about any of the Champions League fixtures from midweek than any of today's premier league games (with the exception of ours, obviously)

They are really putting it to Sky. However, unlike ITV and even Setanta they appear to have the resources behind them to pull it off.
I wonder if the CL will now no longer "exist" on SSN etc, as Sky tend to do with sports they do not have coverage of - like Wimbledon.
And being in Ireland this shouldnt have a huge impact as RTE/TV3 generally split it over here.

Can anyone explain how this all works with the cable TV in the UK? I haven't wanted to bother asking but it seems like a big deal at the moment.
From what I can understand, Sky TV have their own sports channels, Sky Sports, which originally had the rights to the PL and the CL. These channels were only viewable through Sky by paying.
Then there is also Virgin TV, who are another cable tv company? And they are another pay tv company with their own sports channels? BT sport (which stands for?) and they now have the rights to the PL and the CL?
And this means the BBC/ITV also no longer have rights to show the games on free to air tv?96 Never Forgotten

Sky is still better than Virgin though, so you should phone and see if you can get discount.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostI'm thinking it might be time for a change and I do hate Sky
This sort of thing always backfires on me, but I rang last month and said I couldn't afford to keep it so they gave me 75% off for another year.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Matt will be pleased!Originally posted by Shaggy View PostAnd ITV vanquished too. Won't be on terrestrial TV at all. All on BT. Pretty big development.

I'm gonna move to a dodgy set up soon I think. No idea how to go about it but a few people on Twitter have suggested a few possibilities. 'Dreambox' was one suggestion.Originally posted by G View PostI'll carry on with Al Jazzera thanks very much. Getting a dodgy cable box in the new year too so I don't have to pay these cunts any money at all. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
