they seem to be a bit like us - sort of plucky underdogs, young manager, great team spirit, couple of real class players - everyone pulling in the right direction together,

would have been some bet at the start of the season - LFC/Atl Mad to win their leagues

Messi's attitude has been shocking all season, their best football come when he was out. Still getting loads of goals which is a testament to how good he is but other players seem to suffer. The World Cup excuse can wash for a year but if it happens next season I reckon they'll look to sell for £150m plus and one of the financial dopers will bite.

I only saw the last 15 minutes last night, but he was anonymous.

They were banging deep crosses into the box which considering the lack of height in the team is an odd tactic.

Can't see Martino being in charge next season.

as you say, shows how good he is - he's basically doing the bare minimum requirement - still scored 38 goals in 39 games all competitions

but again no defense of him as such but for a guy who at 26 has already won 3 european cups with barca - what's his motivation. World cup round the corner - kill yourself trying to win a 4th CL (when in reality, he'll get at least another what 4/5 chances to win a CL) or save yourself for world cup - at 26....his one chance to go there at his best/peak and tear it up.

once this world cup is out the way - i'm sure he'll 'wake up' in domestic football...

that said though - it'd be great to see him go and do something else.....wins the world cup, has won everything he can at barca, he's 26...

why not say...i want a piece of something new, fresh, to get my hunger back and to make my legend even bigger, somewhere where they worship their heroes......

                Liverpool

front three of messi/suarez/sturridge - yes please - cover from coutinho/sterling/borini

Cristiano Ronaldo out for Copa del Rey final and potentially Champions League semi 1st leg. Goes without saying...huge loss for Real Madrid.

UEFA statement on integrity of competitions

                            Published: Friday 11 April 2014, 11.15CET

The integrity of sporting competition is a fundamental principle for UEFA and the competition and disciplinary regulations state clearly that clubs cannot influence others over the players they field.

In response to media reports referring to the situation of Club Atlético de Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, UEFA would like to reiterate its position.

The integrity of sporting competition is a fundamental principle for UEFA.

Both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations contain clear provisions which strictly forbid any club to exert, or attempt to exert, any influence whatsoever over the players that another club may (or may not) field in a match.

It follows that any provision in a private contract between clubs which might function in such a way as to influence who a club fields in a match is null, void and unenforceable so far as UEFA is concerned.

Furthermore, any attempt to enforce such a provision would be a clear violation of both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations and would therefore be sanctioned accordingly.

Hopefully we see the Premier League grow a pair at some point as well and do the same thing for domestic loans. If you loan a player then he should be free to play against you.
