Raise the Ba, Arsene: Wenger makes loan bid for Chelsea striker - and also has eyes on PSG forward Pastore
    By JOHN DRAYTON

Arsenal have reportedly made a £1.5million loan move for Demba Ba but Chelsea are looking more in the region of £3m.

Ba is a deadline-day target for the Gunners as Arsene Wenger looks to add another striker to his squad before the transfer window closes.

The Gunners have also made an ambitious enquiry concerning Paris St Germain forward Javier Pastore.

The Argentinian joined the French club for £33.7million in 2011 but has fallen out of favour andis yet to score this season.

Sportsmail revealed earlier on Monday that Arsenal have made an enquiry to the Stamford Bridge hierarchy concerning Ba but it is understood Jose Mourinho is reluctant to let the striker leave for one of their top-four rivals.

Chelsea have had interest from around Europe in the Senegal star and would consider selling permanently for offers in the region of £10m.

Newcastle had made a £1m offer for 28-year-old Ba to return for the season but Roma and Rubin Kazan are also interested while other Premier League sides, such as West Ham, will consider a move if they can sell others.

If Arsenal complete the deal for Mesut Ozil it may well attract more players to move before the end of the transfer window.

Olivier Giroud has scored four goals in five games so far this season, but beyond him, their next option is either Lukas Podolski or Yaya Sanogo.

Nicklas Bendtner appears to be on his way out of the Emirates and Marouane Chamakh has already moved to Crystal Palace.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have too many strikers if anything and with the arrival of Samuel Eto'o, Ba could be sacrificed.

Wenger is a total ****ing weirdo. Why wait until the last day before conducting business? He has a history of this too.

Having said that, Ozil is one **** of a signing. They're back in the game!

Think his hands were tied by the Bale deal, which has been the trigger for the market to kick in. Real wouldn't countenance selling Ozil until Bale was done.

Oh ****, I really hope they don't get Pastore.

This also indicates that the donkey work for this deal was done well before yesterday, but it was kept hushed until now. As you say, it just depended on Bale going through.

It's pretty much impossible to do deals like this overnight.

                  Haha - what typos.

I meant 'donkey work' (no pun intended).

Well, think about how long most big transfers take to negotiate. There is the price to be agreed, the number of instalments to be paid, agents fees, player terms, image rights and all sorts. It's inconcievable to me that Wenger phoned Madrid after the Spurs game and asked them if they could buy the player for £45m.
                  Oh I don't know.

Looks like the chain needs unblocking. McCarthy's move to Everton is currently stuck and so is Fellaini's to Man United. The tension grows.

#CFC have heard nothing of PSG's reported interest in Juan Mata. Barring 'silly money', Mata looks like staying at Stamford Bridge
