Mesut Ozil is staying in Madrid, according to Marca. Turned down move after fee agreed. See @John_Ashdown liveblog:

I'd have been and still will be shocked to see him move to Arsenal.

That was probably the signing Wenger was having a big grin about earlier today

What a **** up from Moyes. Still acting like the Everton manager scrambling for a major target on the final day. Is there any midfielder he isn't bidding for today?

I'd love to see Ozil in the Premiership. Just nowhere else other than us.

Marca reckon Ozil turned Arsenal down cos he doesn't wanna leave Madrid. Dig your heels in, Mesut!

Ozil would be wasted under Moyes, class footballer.

I am told #MUFC definitely NOT in for Mesut Özil. Working hard on deals for Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera. #DeadlineDay

Viviano to join Arsenal on loan after passing medical

                            2 Sep 2013 09:55:00

The goalkeeper completed medical tests at the Gunners' London Colney training ground on Monday morning and will move to the Gunners on a season-long loan

Emiliano Viviano has passed a medical at Arsenal and agreed the terms of a season-long loan from Palermo, Goalcan reveal.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper flew into London from Italy on Sunday night and headed straight for the first phase of medical tests at the Gunners’ London Colney training ground.

Goal understands the Italy international has now passed the medical despite a history of knee trouble.

Viviano will join on a season-long loan, which gives Arsenal the option to buy him at the end of the campaign.

It is understood that the north Londoners will pay a substantial loan fee for the keeper, who became available after his club Palermo were relegated to Serie B.

Viviano spent last season on loan at Fiorentina but they have not taken up an option to buy him and he is expected to be registered with Arsenal before Monday night’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Arsene Wenger turned his attention to Viviano after continually revising his list of goalkeeping targets during the summer.

Arsenal had made moves for a string of keepers, including QPR’s Julio Cesar, Valencia’s Vincent Guaita and Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic.

Very good player - lovely passer, typically Spanish footballer. Overpriced at £30m though.

If there is one thing Wenger is good at, it's buying **** keepers. And plenty of 'em.
