Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings, the club’s record signing, has been ruled out for the season with an anterior cruciate ligament knee injury.

The left-back, who joined from Ipswich for £8m this summer, was taken off on a stretcher six minutes into his debut against Leicester City last weekend, after replacing Charlie Daniels at half-time. Daniels, who has started all four of the Cherries’ Premier League games so far this season, is also expected to miss a month of matches with a knee injury.

Mings had initially been expected to miss three months through injury but a post on the defender’s Facebook account stated that he could face up to a year on the sidelines.

Mings said: “Worse news than first anticipated... tore my medial cruciate ligament and my anterior cruciate ligament. Will be out for 9-12 months, having surgery next Wednesday.”

Happened to me and my friend all the time. We never gave cards (mainly because we couldn't be arsed with the paperwork!) as sometimes parents were on a knife-edge. Loads of abuse and even got followed once.
