Well I disagree - I don't *care* who's gay, but this is a huge deal for football. Yes it's a shocking indictment on the macho world of football, it's ridiculous in this day and age that being gay in football is still taboo, but it is taboo and it is a story. More power to the lads who come out - make no mistake it will be a huge deal for them and that's all that should matter IMO.

I hope they do come out and I hope it marks the start of a new chapter in football where we can have openly gay footballers and they're not abused by sections of the crowd.
Presumably then this is related to the early week story about the footballer being blackmailed about a video that is supposedly circulating

I've got no idea about that. I'd hoped it was a couple of lads doing it willingly.

Firefighters had to rescue a trapped football fan who claimed he had fallen asleep on the toilet at half-time waking up seven hours after the match had ended.

A crew from Barnsley got the call around 11pm Saturday night and witnessed a man in his early 20s standing on the top of a portakabin inside Oakwell stadium calling for help.

People shouldn't have to hide away or pretend they are something they aren't. You would assume that team mates and stuff know because it isnt really something people care about anymore.
                  *Except Michael, who died.

I think the pre-story is a bit of an issue actually. It encourages speculation and does feel invasive (obviously it could be the players themselves putting out feelers to test the reaction which would be different).

Once any individual has come out then I agree whole heartedly with your sentiments.

No they shouldn't, I fully agree, but who is releasing this story, the players in question or the media. I hope it's the former.

The Barnsley first team had a team bonding session at Pizza Hut today. They were supposed to run there, have their snap and run back. However, they allegedly didn't know where they were running, so the majority of them drove. All 1.5 miles of it.

I think that's what it is - players, clubs and authorities testing the water.
