Cristiano Ronaldo pays for brain operation for 10-month-old boy

According to Spanish daily sports newspaper AS, Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, the current holder of the Fifa Ballon d'Or, has done the honourable act of paying for an operation needed for a 10-month-old boy with cortical dysplasia, a brain condition that can cause 30 seizures a day.

Young Erik Ortiz Cruz, a Real supporter, required the €60,000 procedure to remove a part of his brain, before a series of treatments that cost €6,000 each time. Little Erik's case came to Ronaldo's attention when he was asked to donate some boots for a charity auction, and the Galatico went one better and agreed to pay for all of the treatments.

Ronaldo signed a new contract with Madrid which nets the Portuguese star more than €18 million a year and in the region of €340,000 a week, so financial issues will never apply to the former Man United man.
