Do European clubs give the players the time off or continue to train? I suppose I naively assumed the players would be sitting about playing Playstation for 2 weeks, although logically I guess they do some light training?

They do that for eight months of the year by all accounts.Originally posted by RedReet View PostDo European clubs give the players the time off or continue to train? I've no real idea what they do on the continent but i don't think they'd be like school holidays or annual leave. They will still train to an extent, just not play (although as said, some clubs play friendlies during this time).

Not sure if it was obvious from Shaggy's link (I can't read it), but rather than everyone having two weeks off, 5 games will be played one week and 5 the next, so there will still be football on.
Quite clever from FA/PL, even if it is motivated by greed.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Yeah I think it's typical to spend a lot of the break training to a degree where energy levels are being topped up whilst condition maintained, and quite common for it to involve a warm weather camp somewhere. Sound alright dunnit?!Originally posted by labourRed View PostThey do that for eight months of the year by all accounts.

Hmm. So in effect every team is only getting a week off? Bit of a half measure, but better than nothing!Originally posted by RedReet View PostNot sure if it was obvious from Shaggy's link (I can't read it), but rather than everyone having two weeks off, 5 games will be played one week and 5 the next, so there will still be football on.

Well that confused me for a second.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostHmm. So in effect every team is only getting a week off? Bit of a half measure, but better than nothing!
So it's actually across three weekends, and each team has two consecutive weekends off then? Sounds more reasonable.

With no midweek games either before or after the weekend off, yeah that makes sense. Just shy of two weeks between games will be very welcome I'd think. Not quite the German break, but then that's mental and probably as much led by their weather as anything!Originally posted by RedReet View PostOver 2 weekends. 1 weekend off, minimum 13 days rest.Like blood on iron
