Iker Muniain has agreed terms on a new contract tying him to Athletic de Bilbao until 2017 and featuring a €45 million release clause. The forward will put pen to paper after returning from holiday, club president Josu Urrutia told reporters.

Muniain and the club had been locked in contract talks for several months and now a breakthrough has been made. The news comes just a week after confirmation of the departure of Ander Herrera to Manchester United, with the midfielder having himself deposited his €36 million buyout clause to join the likes of Javi Martínez (Bayern Munich), Fernando Llorente (Juventus) and Fernando Amorebieta (Fulham) in having jumped ship from the Bilbao outfit recently.

Though still only 21, Muniain has been in Athletic's first-team set-up for six years now and it looks like he will continue to light up San Mamés for at least a few more years.

Breaking news coming out of Spain as local media reports indicate that Real Madrid legend Alfredo Di Stefano is in critical condition after having suffered a heart attack.
Spanish news outlet ABC were the first to report on the honorary Real Madrid president's status after having been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Gregorio Marañon hospital in Spain.

Di Stefano, who had celebrated his 88th birthday just yesterday, suffered the health crisis near the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, where he was attended by a unit of Samur; a specialized and highly qualified emergency system in Madrid.
After performing CPR for over 18 minutes, medics were able to revitalize Di Stefano. However, his previos health background, which include a previous heart-attack, and advanced age maintain him in a very delicate condition.
The former Argentine & Spanish International is regarded as one of the best players to have stepped on a pitch, having won a long list of individual honors with Real Madrid, River Plate and Millonarios.
