Same. Quality player and gave Steve Archibald everything of a plate... Hoddle used to have that 'both feet off the ground' volley technique - first time I'd ever seen it. Gerrard and now Trent's passing range reminds me of Hoddle in the eighties... some player.

Shame he's such a **** pundit now.

Absolutely wonderful. What a player. That first goal (1984?) is one of my earliest football memories, and tbh I adored Hoddle. My Dad, through his work, was offered a Mitre football signed by the Spurs squad at the time, about 1986. He took it so he could give it to me, despite being an LFC fan, solely because he knew how much I loved Hoddle.

I kept it for years in my room, untouched, until one day me and my mates didn't have a ball to play with so I got the Spurs ball and we played heads and volleys for hours in the park and more or less kicked all the autographs off it.

yeah that was messed up stuff alright...... surprised he came back from that one and was able to be a pundit afterwards. I suspect if it happened now - lets say someone like Neville or Carragher came out with that ****e - then that would be it for them.

There is a very bleak future for Irish football and not overly optimistic on the rugby front so I’m all in with my Celtic cousins in Scotland
