Southampton: Nicola Cortese future at Saints in doubt
By Ben Smith
BBC Sport
Southampton chairman Nicola Cortese's future is in doubt, with leading figures at the club fearing he could leave at the end of the season.
Cortese has yet to make a final decision on his position, but there is a growing sense of unease at the club's Staplewood training ground.
The former Swiss banker has been a key figure in the Premier League club's rise from the depths of League One.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino has said he would leave if Cortese departed.
"I would not understand staying in this role if Nicola was not here," he said last season. "The person who actually called me from the start, told me about the project and put the faith in me, was Nicola."
Southampton declined to comment when contacted by BBC Sport.
Seedorf confirmed as new AC Milan manager. Interesting and brave choice in their situation. One of my favorite players of the last ~20 years, so complete it's unbelievable.
Hopefully he will manage to get things a bit more back on track.
Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert expressed his relief that Nathan Baker’s head injury was better than first feared.
Baker was carried off on a stretcher and wearing an oxygen match early in the first half of Monday’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal after Serge Gnabry’s shot hit him on the temple.
But the 23-year-old centre-half soon regained consciousness and was subsequently diagnosed by Villa’s medics with mild concussion rather than anything more severe.
“If you get hit in the temple, you’re knocked out,” said Lambert. “I’ve had it before. If you’re having a fight hit somebody in the temple.
