    And Sami Hyypia/VVD etc etc etc would disagree too.

    On the face of it, it makes zero sense that 6 would be a defender and 4 a midfielder though

          In my 500+ seasons of Football Manager, I actually perfected a squad numbering system.

          What should be done, is the first choice 11 should get 1-11 in whatever configuration.

          The second choice outfield would get 12-21 based on the same mumbers in those positions and 3rd choice 22-31... and so on.

          So your strikers might get 9, 19, 29, 39 and 10, 20, 30, 40 etc...

          This leaves a problem with the keepers, which I have decided 1, then 101, 102, 103 etc.

          If you then sign a marquee player with a huge ego, you can give them the double number for that position ie 77, 88, 99... The keeper and left winger might have to fight to the death for the 111 shirt though.

          In the new season, players can get promoted or relegated ti a lower or higher shirt based upon the previous seasons performace, and on players bought and sold in the window

          Its a simple yet elegant system, and I am happy to licence it for anyone to use in their own games, or to any real life managers reading this.

                      Minimum of 14 games? Not sure what the max is but at present (assuming you don't go through the qualifiers) you only play 13 if you reach the CL final. That looks like being alot more football.
