Looks like the Hernandez deal is going to happen for Bayern.....was there a rule availability for ‘cup-tied’ players in the champions league?

I knew there was some form of change but never dug into it but he is not eligible under new rules:

Under current rules, clubs who qualify for the knockout stage of either the Champions League or Europa League are allowed to register three new players.

These can include one player who has represented a different club in the Europa League group stages but none who have been fielded for another club in the Champions League group stage

Maybe I should have checked the date of that article as now I’m confused

Rules changed for this season.

To be clear Lucas Hernández can play for Bayern if they sign him. Bayern will be able to register three new players and from this season on it doesn't matter where they played in the first half of the season.

He is one of the best LBs in the world (as is Robbo ) but Bayern already have Alaba there. His future is as LCB as Hummels and Boateng are showing their age. They are also supposed to be signing Pavard in the summer so he’ll play RCB.

Will he settle...,no idea but he is a class player and will make them harder to beat.
