Surely until the crowds are comparable with the men's game, it's a waste of a stadium capacity and stewards/staff resourcing. Surely it would be better to fit the stadium to the expected crowd size so that the atmosphere doesn't get lost?

Pitch wise, if the surface is made of a stronger mix of real and synthetic, then it might not be as big an issue as in days gone by.

At the moment the officials are eye-balling the frame. This will tell them exactly when the ball was kicked.

For me this feels like a significant improvement, god knows we need it!

True, but they won’t have an equivalent exact frame for the player. Still, using an inertial sensor in the ball should definitely help.

The ball contact is much faster than the players can run.

According to a quick google search:
the fastest ball contact was recorded at 130mph, the fastest speed for a footballer was 23mph

Makes sense, but then when you’re deciding between one frame and the next for the position of the player, at 23mph or 10pms, there’s up to a 20cm difference between one frame and the next. I wonder if the ‘AI’ does some calculations to work out the ‘intro-frame’ position based on the more precise measure of the ball kick.
