All roads lead to the unifying dislike of the English for sure

I think we can agree then, that, perhaps the Scotland v Ireland football match brings forward a slightly different set of content (and will definitely attract some OF who cant get enough of the sectarian battles), that isnt heard at other Scotland matches? I can confirm that there is plently of bile aimed at the English at those other games, and you can confirm that it is aimed at you at the Irish ones?

I'm not claiming Scottish fans are saintly, far from it, just that hatred of the English trumps any Irish animosity outside of direct confrontation.

    The defence rests.

          That'd be right, Bird.

As an aside, did you know I played the role of said Mr McCabe not once but twice at our old alma mater?

We did a performance based on the original play with the outsider being the Galway business man and a second version based on the film with the outsoider being the "Yank".

Shocked that they thought I could play a grumpy large Irish man

To this day I can reel off lines to either script, along with most of Philadelphia, Here I Come and 12 Angry Men.

Ha so did I. We would have been on the same cycle then.

You should have had the Merchant of Venice and Macbeth mixed in there between your Inter and Leaving certs then along with that ****ing book Peig.

Peig we did not even get the english version of, I have to wade through that tome of abject misery in Irish.

Trying to think what Thomas Hardy novel we did. The Mayor Of Casterbridge I think. Do like that novel.

And you would have had Emily Dickinson (Quite liked her stuff. Still do) mixed in amongst all the other poetry

This programme was absolutely formative in my love of football. This show, the music, the commentary were an absolute joy
