He got racially abused by athletico fans in September and Mallorca fans in February. Wasn’t good then either but nothing changes.

Can't wait to hear his take on female victims of rape that choose not to wear boiler suits.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostThe ‘we cannot condone this racist behaviour, but,’ narrative is appalling.
The commentator I listened to said that we had to acknowledge that Vinicius Jrs behaviour was not perfect either and could not be excused.
Err. Yes, I think it can.

I've seen a few, they've been ****ing awfulOriginally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostWas at my first Womens league game last night in Dalymount park as a friend of work was playing for Bohemians so a few of us turned up to support her.
All I can say is wow. Is so unlike the men's game at the highest level.
Full blooded tackles, no falling down at the slightest touch, players busting a gut all game long, players doing what the ref says, the ref actually reffing the game properly and loved how players support one another with words of encouragement throughout the game.
And the second goal Bohs scored was just a stunning goal. The sort of volley that would be on highlight reels for years if scored in the PL.

Awful compared to what though. The skill at the highest level of the men's game like in the PL and other top leagues?
No they are not at that level yet, but the lack of diving, play acting, and whinging compared to the top levels was so refreshing.
Was a treat to watch a competitive game where both teams just went at it trying hard to win without the crap cheating that the "best" serve up in every single game.
I also go to LOI games at Turner Cross on a regular basis and what I saw in the Bohs vs Athlone game was not, imo, far off of LOI standard in the men's game, might even be at that level already in terms of watching it.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Why does there have to be a comparison? I watch women's boxing, ufc, tennis, athletic, swimming, gymnastics etc and have never thought ... well this is **** in comparison to the men's game. With women's football, I just haven't enjoyed it when I've watched it, I found it slow and boring, I felt the same way when I tried to watch women's basketball.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostAwful compared to what though. If you want to make a football comparison, which it seems you do. IMO I've seen some better U14's boys football teams, than some pro women's football sides. I watch the younger kids football sides play if I wanted the wholesome & refreshing approach.
The fact another poster is talking about it in another thread, like I made some kind of slight against women or women's sports is hilarious, also not particularly surprising. I'm not allowed to say I haven't enjoyed women's football, yikes what a time to be alive! Get over yourselves lads ... it doesn't mean I think all women's sports are ****e. It's just my opinion on women's football that I have seen, nothing more, nothing less. If you enjoy it, fair play.Last edited by danperkins; 25-05-23, 07:26 AM.

Well I posted to comment on one particular game, and gave actual reasons why I enjoyed it. Yet given you replied with a laughing emoji and saying the women's games you saw were all awful, it would seem that I cannot say I enjoyed a game, which you did not see, without someone laughing and saying women's football, based on what he had seen in other games, is awful.
What a time to be alive.
And as to why there has to be a comparison? Well I made one not based on the skill levels of the game, though the second goal scored by Bohs would have stood out at any level, but rather on how the highest level of the game seems to have big grown men feigning injuries, falling at the hint of a touch, cheating blatantly and so on and that I found it refreshing to be at a live game where there was zero of that going on.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I just don't think it's translates like other sports. Women's tennis is unreal, women's swimming and gymnastics are ridiculous too. For me, football and basketball in particular are almost unwatchable from games I have watched, some of which would be considered the best of women's football.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostWell I posted to comment on one particular game, and gave actual reasons why I enjoyed it. I do get what you're saying mate and didn't mean to offend, some women's sports are amazing others not so much. Imo of course. Regarding the men's game, yeah the game has gone a bit toxic and can be tedious to watch. To be honest, I've even seen it in the kids games, they are doing what their heroes are doing. Diving and cheating. I do wonder will I lose interest in it as time goes on.

Women's athletics and winter sports are great too. UFC is pretty good. Boxing I don't like but they're all a low weight class and I don't even like men's boxing at low weights, except for Inoue who unbelievableOriginally posted by danperkins View PostI just don't think it's translates like other sports. certain things translate and others don't. All about opinions I suppose.

I have to say, I dont enjoy womens football... I have said it before, but I think the pitches are too big. It discourages running with the ball and reduces the level of skill. I am really small and when I used to play I found it knackering. But I dont know how this can be easily addressed without redrawing lines on the pitches and moving the goals. Not sure how feasible that would be.
I guess you can appreciate it for what it is, but I struggle to watch any football apart from Liverpool The other thing is I just dont see the passion or atmosphere at womens games. I watch a lot of netball too, and it reminds me of that. Its all a bit too friendly imho (and I know the tribalism aspect of football can be taken too far by dickheads who are always men). I have been to crap games that have been a carried on the atmosphere. When i hear the crowd roar "**** OFF" in unison to a bad (or good) refereeing decision, I might show more interest. At the moment there is just too much to watch or do, and I have limited time.
At the same time, I think it should be enouraged as much as possible. I think standards will increase with time, and I think its hard enough to get kids outside to exercise, and anything that does that should always be enouraged as much as possible. I think perhaps I put my own kids off as neither have shown any interest at sports. At least they wont support another team.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.
