That’s not what mansplaining means tho?Originally posted by danperkins View PostSurely that term would only blokes more defensive and feel like they have no say on the issue? We all have ears, eyes and a mouth.
It’s when we as men take the opportunity to explain something to a women assuming that she has no idea, when the reality is she does, perhaps even a greater knowledge than our own.
I’d always viewed it as a fairly humorous term given that it is something we have all likely been guilty of from time to time.Modifying post.

I know that but you asked why I don't like it. It really depends on the context. I ll give you a perfect example, it was last year sometime I was in the gym and there was two young girls using one of the machines in the gym and using it incorrectly. Me and a bloke not 5 ft from them were doing our workouts, we both had seen they hadn't a clue what they were doing. It was a simple bench press and light but they were way too far down the bench which puts massive pressure on the shoulders and not spotting each other. Yer man says to them, sorry girls you're too far down on the bench and you should be standing behind just in case, just mind yourselves. He leaves and one of the girls says "****ing mansplaining things to me".Originally posted by Buzzo View PostThat’s not what mansplaining means tho?

No, he was giving you sound advice so you would not hurt yourself you ****ing idiot. Like I said context, I just don't like the word but yes there are many incidents that 'mansplaining' happens and many when good advice is good advice regardless of who it comes from. Personally I would call it condescending.Last edited by danperkins; 31-08-23, 03:50 PM.

White Knight is used by the same people that perjoratively use woke as an insult. Its jibe to ridicule people that dare stick up for someone that isn't them, because hey, its a lot more fun taking the piss and bully marginalised groups when they don't have voices sticking up for them.Originally posted by Cerbie View PostWhite Knight could equally be levelled at all the white European males rushing to defend the Spanish World Cup winning team.
Incel has some nasty insinuations, so probably best to avoid using it even in a jokey way.Football without Origi is nothing

“The phrase "white knight" as an insult is often used to criticize someone who is perceived as overly defensive or supportive of a particular person or cause, typically in a way that comes across as insincere or self-serving. It implies that the person is intervening or defending someone not out of genuine concern, but rather to appear virtuous or gain favor, often with a connotation of moral superiority.”Originally posted by ChesterDave View PostWhite Knight is used by the same people that perjoratively use woke as an insult. I take it you were trying to insult my contribution. In which case I’ll revert to my less considered response of - duck off and stop being a prick. We are here for a good time not a long time....
