The sad thing is clubs may not like it but money talks, and so the vanity concept will continue. But it'd be nice if some clubs said, **** that. But the prospect of up to £100m is a draw

Covid time plays tricks with my mind but I genuinely can't remember any talk of us playing in it the last time we were supposed to.

Auckland city are guaranteed at least NZ$6.6 million (about £3m) from the competition just for turning up. Compare that with their annual turnover of £0.5m Every other New Zealand club is now screwed for the next few years at least as they can't compete financially. It's a story repeated for many of the clubs involved, it's destabilising for most of the leagues represented. All so the Saudis can pretend they have a serious league.

Aye, but what I mean is that before Covid hit, I can't remember any talk of us playing in it that summer. As far as I know, I'd never heard of the competition before this year.

Either way, I'm glad we aren't in it and I hope City and Chelsea (and Madrid) are plagued with injuries this year.

It doesn’t make much difference they win their league and the Oceana champions league pretty much every year. They are miles ahead of anyone else there already.
