Should have been a forfeit when they left the pitch for 15+ minutes on the day, but they let the game play so not sure how they decided they could go back and change it now?

It's the rules of the competition. CAF can rule on incidents via disciplinary committee after the game.Originally posted by Scratch View PostShould have been a forfeit when they left the pitch for 15+ minutes on the day, but they let the game play so not sure how they decided they could go back and change it now?
Personally, I think the decision is correct, the ref should have abandoned the game at the time. But I doubt CAS will uphold the decision, Senegal will likely keep the title but get a fine or something.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

The ref probably should have abandoned the game at the time, but for me the important point is he didn't. He allowed Senegal to come back on and the game to continue, I guess expecting Morocco to score the penalty.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostIt's the rules of the competition. So how can they call it a forfeit now when the ref allowed the game to continue?

Apparently the opposite it true in the rules of the AFCON.Originally posted by Sus View PostI think it's in the rules somewhere that the ref's decision is final, and can't be changed after the game

Doesn't that open a whole can of worms though, if the ref incorrectly awarded a goal or penalty they can go back and change results by the same principle of the ref being wrong (I appreciate this is different scale). But I don't see how a match can be deemed abandoned when the players returned, completed the match and the trophy was awarded. Surely decision has to be made to abandon while they are off the pitch. I would imagine an appeal to CAS would likely be successful as the match can't have been abandoned if it was completed (whether the decision to allow them to return was right or not)Originally posted by Kenneth View PostApparently the opposite it true in the rules of the AFCON.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
