I think you're getting him confused with another ex pro who does part time coaching in Scandinavia I think. Can't remember his name either though, but I'm sure I heard them going on about it on TalkSport one time

According to a source in Ukraine, Liverpool have upped their offer for Konoplyanka to 19.4m euros. Prepared to pay him £60k-a-week.

Oh I say his vision there was lovely

If he does he's kept it a secret from the entire internet.

It came he said via a player he spoke to that played over there, he was told how much a certain player at the same club was on, which was around 70/80kpw, so he said, bearing in mind that Konoplyanka is their star, he's probably on more.

He didn't cliam to be an expert, and was just passing on what he'd been told, or so he said.

David James was coaching in Iceland with Hermann Hreidarsson.

Not sure if he still is.

Not anymore, but they want to coach/manage again together. They applied for the Portsmouth job reently IIRC.

EXCLUSIVE: Yevhen Konoplyanka is like Arjen Robben and perfect for Liverpool - John Scales

YEVHEN KONOPLYANKA can fire Liverpool into the Champions League, according to former Kop hero John Scales.

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre flew to Ukraine yesterday to try and seal a £16m deal for the Dnipro winger.

Tottenham have also expressed an interest in the 24-year-old who Scales has likened to Arjen Robben.

If the Reds do get him, Scales is expecting big things.

"He's a very talented player. He's got a very good reputation and people have seen what he's capable of playing against England," the ex-Three Lions international said.

"If you look at that Ukraine team he is one of two or three very good players. From what I've seen of him, I've been massively impressed.

"He's very much in the style of Arjen Robben in that he likes cutting in from wide areas.

"He's very quick and looks to me like an intelligent player.

"Look at Liverpool's attacking options. Iago Aspas might leave in the summer and Victor Moses is only on loan.

"It's certainly an area they are looking at strengthening and Konoplyanka is just the sort of player they do need to bring in.

"If he did come, he would be a great acquisition."

Liverpool have been forced to swoop for the Ukrainian ace after missing out on Mohamed Salah to Chelsea.

Liverpool target Yevhen Konoplyanka as good as Andriy Shevchenko
                        30 Jan 2014 10:30

International broadcaster John Bradley, who covers the Ukrainian League, says it will be money well spent if Liverpool can strike a deal

Liverpool target Yevhen Konoplyanka has been described as the best Ukrainian player since Andriy Shevchenko.

The Reds are hoping to tie up a deal for the 24-year-old before the January transfer window shuts at 11pm tomorrow.

Liverpool have opened talks with Konoplyanka’s club Dnipro for the attacker, who is valued at more than £15m.

International broadcaster John Bradley, who covers the Ukrainian League, says it will be money well spent if a deal can be struck.

Bradley has watched Konoplyanka’s rise through the ranks at Dnipro and his increasingly impressive performances for the Ukrainian national side.

Liverpool have turned to the pacy winger after missing out on Mohamed Salah last week. But Bradley believes they would be signing a more proven player in Konoplyanka.

“He is a classic, old-style winger,” said Bradley.

“He works really hard and looks to get the ball at his feet.

“He gave Kyle Walker a torrid time when he played for Ukraine against England and he has done the same in the Europa League and the Ukrainian League.

“Salah has burst onto the scene in the last 18 months or so but this boy has been doing it for the Ukrainian national team for four years.

“He is more the finished article.

“He is the best Ukrainian player of his generation and the best Ukrainian player since Shevchenko.

“I’ve rated him for a long, long time. It was probably back in 2009 that he first made his mark for Dnipro.”

Bradley says Shakhtar Donetsk, Dynamo Kiev and Zenit St Petersburg have previously watched Konoplyanka.

Paris St Germain are also said to have scouted him extensively.

“He has the ambition to go and test himself in one of the big leagues,” Bradley added. “He has been at Dnipro since he was a young lad and grown up on the banks of the Dnieper. But he is ready to take that next big step now.

“But clubs have been put off by his price tag. Dnipro are owned by the third richest man in Ukraine and even with the turmoil of the Ukrainian League, they are not in a position where they need to sell.

“I’ve covered many of their Europa League games and there has always been scouts from top European clubs there watching him.

“But he will look at Liverpool and think ‘I could go straight into that team’.

“ Liverpool have also been linked with Andriy Yarmolenko but, for me, Konoplyanka is more suited to their style of football.

“His work ethic is really good whereas Yarmolenko is a more laid-back character and so will frustrate you. Konoplyanka is a better option.”

A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Perhaps take this with a pinch of salt, but Konoplyanka is being quoted in Ukraine saying: "LFC? I'm so excited about it."

Konoplyanka added: "Very soon you will know where I will play. It's all very serious. I'm shocked myself. It will all be clear very soon."
