Liverpool’s Lucas has urged boss Brendan Rodgers to strengthen his squad by signing AC Milan’s Nigel De Jong, despite the fact the duo play in the same position.

The midfielder was ruled out for around two months with knee ligament damage suffered in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa earlier this month.

And the Brazilian has now told Rodgers De Jong, who has been linked with an Anfield move, would be the perfect man to fill his shoes and keep the Reds on track for a top four finish.

‘He is a good player and produced many good performances at Manchester City,’ Lucas said.

‘If he comes it will be good for the squad because it’s important to have a strong squad.

yet you assume Spurs are only after a player once we're linked in the press, forgetting that we also scout players for months before the press know.

You think its like a transfer market version of Take Me Out, where Liverpool have free pick of about 30 players and they are exclusive to you and you alone, nobody else is allowed to scout these players too, or bid on them, or sign them, because Liverpool are in for them.
