Yeah, I'm sure Spurs have pulled out because Sherwood has doubts. Since when has Levy listened to any of his managers? Especially one that is keeping the 'Head Coach's' seat warm.

Liverpool FC in race against time to complete deal for Konoplyanka

Managing director Ian Ayre was still locked in talks with officials from Ukrainian outfit tonight

Jon Flanagan is targeting an extended run in the Liverpool FC side as the club look to complete the signing of Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka on deadline day.

Managing director Ian Ayre was still locked in talks with officials from the Ukrainian outfit late tonight over a possible £15milllion transfer.

The Reds face a race against the clock to get the deal done before the window shuts at 11pm.

The 24-year-old, who has 35 caps for Ukraine, has expressed his delight at Liverpool's interest.

“I'm so excited about it and soon you will know where I will play,” he said.

His agent has claimed a number of other clubs are also battling to secure his services.

Boss Brendan Rodgers believes the acquisition of Konoplyanka would be the perfect boost for Liverpool's pursuit of Champions League qualification.

The Reds head for West Brom on Sunday looking to build on the emphatic 4-0 derby win over Everton.

Flanagan was one of their standout performers after being recalled at right-back. It was the Academy graduate's first start since recovering from a hamstring injury which kept him sidelined for a month.

In the continued absence of Glen Johnson, the 21-year-old is out to make that place in the side his own.

“For me it was just about getting that chance and taking it,” Flanagan told the ECHO.

“Now I've taken it I just want to push on. I'm feeling good in training and hopefully the injuries are behind me.

“Everyone wants to be a first team regular and hopefully I can achieve that.”

Flanagan, who grew up in Anfield, relished the experience of the derby rout.

“It’s a local lad’s dream just to play against Everton and to come out 4-0 winners was just phenomenal,” he added.

“We knew we had pace in behind and caught them on the counter attack with Sturridge on the left and Sterling on the right. We just kept it tight at the back and let them do the work up top

“Sturridge has been on fire since he came back from his injury. He has scored in every game.

“All the lads were buzzing afterwards and it was nice to send the fans home happy.

“The atmosphere was amazing, the fans were great and just to get those three points was crucial for us.

“We want that top four spot and we put a marker down with that performance. We are not going to give it up easily.”
