The disappointing thing about this transfer window is that we really could do with a few quality additions if we really have ambition to finish in the top four. I'm not saying we can't do it without new signings, but it's more of a gamble with what we have. I really think we needed to strengthen this window.

If we miss out on 4th then this transfer window will be remembered as a major factor in that. I still believe we're the favourites to finish 4th and that we have enough quality to do so BUT if we had signed Konoplyanka then we would have been nailed on for it.
Oh well, batter West Brom and we'll all cheer up I'm sure.

Their are no guarantees this guy would have been a success. How many players coming from Eastern European leagues have made an instant impact in the EPL?
The squad we have is good enough to get 4th and we will have more money in the summer to buy quality proven Champions League level players.
Let's look at the positives.
I wasn't too excited with this signing anyway, not like I would have been with a Mata or someone like that.

The biggest disappointment of the whole TW for me was that the stupid Chavs sold Mata to the scum. I'd have preferred he went back to Spain than strengthen our rivals. ******s.Originally posted by topscorer View PostTheir are no guarantees this guy would have been a success. You'd think they would have learnt their lessons after they were left holding their dicks after allowing Carroll to go without lining up a replacement.
If you have a target and a whole month to get him then get your business done early. People can point the finger all they want at the owner but fair play to him if he didn't like the deal as it stood.
Would have been nice to have a fresh exciting face about the team but would have preferred Brendan had looked to plug the midfield gap. The Everton result papered over the cracks I feel and we have some big matches at home where we could come a cropper like we did against Villa.

That Januzaj bloke hasn't made much of an impact really. Stats I saw elsewhere analysed contributions this season by him and Sterling, both having played more or less the same number of minutes this season. Despite the media going on about Januzaj like he's the next Messi, Sterling's stats were far, far more impressive, yet he scarcely gets a mention. Januzaj only beat him in getting crosses in (as well as diving of course!). So I'd hope these lads would make more of an impression than he over-rated Manc playerOriginally posted by foresterbloke View PostPlus we have players that could have the same impact as Januzaj -

I missed everything last night due to being pissed and falling asleep early but reading through twitter it appears that we had agreed a deal with the lad but the owner refused to sign the paperwork?
The only question raised for me is did we already have an idea before hand or did we waste our time when we should have been going for other targets.
Whilst there seems to be a genuine reason to deflect blame from Ayre you have to raise questions on why we are consistently missing out on our top targets over the last few windows.

Life goes on, if felt a bit of a last minute panic to me anyway.
Just really hope we keep attacking players fit as squad depth could not only cost us a serious title challenge but also top four / keep Suarez etc.
Questions of course do need to be asked as well. However answers probably lie with the Carroll January signing.
