Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller says he expects to have talks with club officials over his future this summer.

Muller is one of a number of top European players linked with a move to Manchester United, where his former Bayern boss Louis van Gaal is set to take charge this summer.

Van Gaal gave Muller his first-team debut back in 2009, and he has gone on to become one of the best forwards in European football.

Muller is under contract until 2017, but he is expecting talks over his future, if Bayern want him to stay for the long term.

Speaking to German-based weekly news magazine Stern, Muller confirmed that he had asked the club for a meeting.

"I have reached the point where I want to know if I am an essential component of the Bayern Munich first XI for the new season and if the club has plans for me over the coming years," said Muller.

"That's why I will be out to have a meeting.

"I am not the type of guy that says, 'Alright, I have played a good part and will keep my mouth shut and everyone else is able to do with me whatever he wants'.

"As a Munich-boy your test at Bayern Munich is always a bit tougher, but we (those players graduated from the youth academy) are the grassroots of this club!"

Muller has previously revealed that he had a 'special' relationship with van Gaal and stated: "It's no secret that Louis van Gaal and I have a relationship that goes a little beyond the normal relationship between coaches and players."

Not a patch on Yeo Valley though. Yoghurts seems to be one of the foods where there's a noticeable difference between organic and ordinary.
          Never knowingly optimistic

Atletico have signed a new goalkeeper. Preparing for Courtois' departure it seems. I'd take Cech if I'm honest!

Di Marzio claims Barca are to sign Rakitic. Dirt cheap, considering....

Barcelona adds Ivan Rakitic to its roster. Blaugrana have closed the deal for the Croatian ace and they will pay Sevilla a €15M fee plus bonuses. The player will take the medical directly in Brazil in the next days. He will tie to Barcelona until 2019. Barcelona will be the next stage of Rakitic’s career.

I know it's his Dad and whatnot, but is Paul Ince the worst thing that could have happened to Tom Ince's career?

Jermaine Pennant set for Napoli transfer and stunning reunion with his Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez

                              Jun 08, 2014 22:30 By John Cross

Ex-England winger is a free agent after three years at Stoke and the Champions League-bound Italians need someone to play wide right

Jermaine Pennant could be set for a remarkable move to Napoli.

Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is interested in signing the former Liverpool winger who he had at Anfield for three years.

Pennant, 31, who recently married model Alice Goodwin, is a free agent and is looking for a club this summer.

Napoli could be looking for a new right winger as Lorenzo Insigne has been heavily linked with a move away with Arsenal one of the clubs reported to be interested.

Benitez is believed to be interested if he feels Pennant has got his head right and would be fully focused on a switch to Napoli.

Pennant, who left Stoke last season, has recently seen a sports psychologist to help get his attitude right.

The former Arsenal winger, who had a spell abroad with Real Zaragoza, flourished under Benitez at Liverpool.

Pennant was widely regarded to have been man of the match in the 2007 Champions League final when Liverpool lost to AC Milan.

It would be a surprise move but Benitez still regards Pennant as having big potential and knows he is a free agent.

                                Complete rubbish. Surely.

Didn't Rafa and Pennant have a right old exchange (via the press) when Pennant left us?
