Joke price really. Great World Cup obviously but he's fetching not far off Suarez money. Had a decent season with Monaco by all accounts.

I didn't hear anyone raving on him in those terms pre-world cup. I think he's a marketing dream, massive world star, good looking guy. They'll market the hell out of him for shirt sales, sponsors etc.

If Suarez hadn't acted like a massive prick several times over his career then he'd have been worth a lot more.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostJoke price really. Great World Cup obviously but he's fetching not far off Suarez money. Had a decent season with Monaco by all accounts.
I'm pretty unsure about all top level transfer fees representing value. However, Real have a brand to protect and probably feel that one or two big name signings this summer are a 'must'. Shocking price... Watched him last year and he was decent but nothing special. Obviously a very talented guy that had a great world cup but that price is exorbitant to say the least.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostJoke price really. To be fair though.. Madrid and barca are so desperate to out do each other that they will spend whatever. Money seems no object to either club. Seems they need to have a big marquee signing every season.
Was delighted when athletico broke the mould last season, but now they have been decimated and Madrid and barca have improved. Normal state of play resumed.

Re: Arsenal. It's all quite worrying. They look like they are going to have great team next season. Sanchez and Khedira for approx £50 million is fantastic business. I'm sure they will add more to them - even if they are not as exciting signings, these two alone would probably put them on to a different level to last season. An injury free season to Walcott and Ramsey would see us battling United for fourth, I think.
It seems that with Khedira, the only stumbling block (please) is the wages - but he only wants 7 million Euros net per year. That's what £150 grand per week? Should be no problem unfortunately.Last edited by baronvonskidmark; 17-07-14, 09:57 PM.

Lol wut the fuk? I know its from The People but still, if true this is proper ridiculous, they could have had him from us both of the previous 2 summers for about the same fee when they had even fewer strikers
That's a load of **** too, he was on £80k with us.
Newcastle plot Andy Carroll transfer back home from West Ham in £15million deal
Newcastle want to take Geordie hero Andy Carroll back to Tyneside, writes Alan Oliver in the Sunday People.
The 25-year-old hitman’s career has stalled since he moved from St James’ Park to Liverpool for £35million in January 2011, and a switch to West Ham for £15m has failed to reignite him.
Now Toon boss Alan Pardew believes he can persuade the Londoners to sell after they snapped up two South American *strikers this summer.
Pardew is ready to offer the Londoners their £15m back to bring the England star home to the north east.
And if Pardew gets Carroll he will drop his interest in Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha.
A Toon source said: “Like all Geordies, Andy Carroll has never lost his love for Newcastle and we are sure if West Ham agree to sell we would have no difficulty in persuading him to come home.”
The stumbling block is wages.
Carroll picked up £120,000 a week at Anfield and is on similar money at Upton Park – but there is no way the St James’ Park club will pay that kind of salary.
But the lure of the black-and-white shirt is strong and the Toon source added: “Don’t forget Alan Shearer turned down Manchester United to come home to Newcastle.”
Carroll has spent much of his time at West Ham on the treatment table and Hammers boss Sam Allardyce may be happy to sell now he has Ecuador’s World Cup star Enner Valencia and Argentinian front-man Mauro Zarate.
With Papiss Cisse injured, Pardew is desperate to sign another striker to partner new boy Emmanuel Riviere for champions Manchester City's visit to St James’ on August 17.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?
