Thinking about it I think having Luis Suarez as a hero for the kids of today could have a huge benefit for us in the future in terms of bringing though more homegrown players. As I mentioned above I used to idolise Ian Rush. I'd copy his every move. Which was essentially get the ball and tuck it in the corner .

For the youth of today on Merseyside imagine having Luis Suarez to copy. All that insane, unpredictable genius to study and copy and be inspired by. I think if he stays here for a few more years we could potentially see some seriously creative young Scouse players emerge.

Raul, he was amazing when I was younger. Remember him being a proper superstar. He broke through when I was about 10/11. Him and Gazza were great to watch in their hayday.

Lineker was a bit of a Hero too. He was a little older, but I remember being upset when he went off to play in Japan

        You have me thinking now.

Del Piero. I used to really really want his sideburns. Was gutted when they retired

I hated Del Piero's pointy sideburns. Poncey cunt. Always been a big sideburns fan, but the Italian, pointy poncefest ones always pissed me off.

Mostly players from the 1998 World Cup (Ronaldo, Zidane, Owen, Prosinecki) and the Slovenia national team, like Acimovic, Knavs, Zahovic (can't stand him now)...

                Marco Van Basten.

He was the ultimate forward in an amazing AC Milan side. Received too many bad tackles which ultimately cut short his career.

I remember watching this goal, and it was the best thing I had ever seen.

Another one I really liked was Fernando Redondo at Real. I remember him totally bossing a good ManU team at Old Trafford. Again I am sure his career was shortened through injury.

...And Maradona who requires less explanation. Oh and Zidane - Genius.

The Laudrup brothers for their finesse, skill and passing ability. Michael my favorite childhood hero by miles. Use to love Mølby for his passing ability as well, always had a weakness for the great passer.

Elkjær was my favorite striker in the national team ever (no offence Bendtner!!)

From the Barca dream team I loved Guardiola (again a passer ) and Enrique together with Romario were incredible.

A bit further down the line Real Ronaldo!! Best striker I ever seen. Del Pierro before his injury

And lastly Sammer was a monster, used to love watching him.

Crap, so many to choose from, could go on

I always tried to emulate Matthaus as I thought he was the best midfielder around in 1990.

Thought Enzo Schifo was brilliant too.
