Maybe, maybe not. but that is where your argument that brick was chosen due to budgetary purposes has fallen apart. If budget was the primary driver, then why not clad the thing in a pre-frabricated brick facade, like just about every other modern building with a brick facade.

There's a similar argument that the roof truss was chosen because it's cheaper than a cantilevered roof. No chance. There's 650 tons of steel in that truss. No way that would be cheaper than a cantilevered roof which would use a fraction of the steel.

I think we need Yozza to settle this either way.
    Oh I don't know.

Nope, they were never going to clad it in something like upvc just because it's cheaper, there was always a certain standard that had to be set, otherwise it wouldn't just be me that was underwhelmed.

I just think it could have been better, with a bit more money spent on more aesthetically pleasing surfaces, that would look good even in 20-30 yrs time when the red brick is looking old, dirty, and crumbly, and would today...have people saying..' Hey...that's amazing what they've done there'.

            The judge's decision is final.

Brick doesn't crumble in 30 years. Look at the millions of Victorian houses in the UK, many of which were built to a better standard than their modern equivalents.

BTW, the new Stamford Bridge will be clad in yellow brick too. It'll be interesting to see have that looks in real life.
            Oh I don't know.

Haven't you got a game to play, or something. Minecraft seems apt.

Good point that, they seem to last a lot longer than the Red Brick used today, look at the large public buildings constructed in Red Brick in the 70's and 80's, they look horrible, Red facing brick today seems to suffer far more from wind and rain damage. imo.

                  Vermy.

Check out these (non brick) claddings on some high profile buildings:

Lincoln Plaza in London's Docklands won the 2016 Carbuncle Cup with one judge describing it as a "horror show" and the "embodiment of sea sickness"

luxury development Saffron Square which was described as having a "car crash of a facade"
                  Oh I don't know.

Something along the lines of what this company do would have added to the look, imo.

I quite like that stuff too.

Would it have added to the look of the new stand? Maybe. Maybe not. It's subjective of course.

And I don't know if it would be cheaper or more expensive than laying all those bricks either.
