This is just highlighting that most match officials take things personally and may be holding grudges. Firing him doesn't change that.

'German ****' is the worst bit and the only real grounds to punish him IMO.
For removing any doubt by being on video actually saying these things

Though it would be great if this led to a wider reform, since there are no doubt others with similar attitudes and the standard of referring is dreadful anyway, whatever the reasons.

How the **** are any of you feeling sorry for him when he blatantly screwed us in heaps of games. Bias referring should be no different to match fixing.

It should as the latter is an actual crime.

That is not to say confirmed bias should not see a ref deemed unfit for purpose, but it is not on the same level as match fixing.

What he has done with his comments is turned conversation about him "only" being bad at his job to him being bad at his job on purpose as a means to punish those he is in a position to oversee.

His decisions which can have an impact, financial or mental, on the people on the receiving ends of them. So if he is going to be painted as a victim in some ways, then it is only fair that he is also painted as a perpetrator for his own treatment of others.

Throw in the xenophobic comment, throw in the slandering of the team save for Milner and also the potentially taking of a substance that may be a class A party favour and you have the sort of behaviour that would see you fired from almost any job in the land not to mention legal action being taking against you for some of it.

Supporters of teams get banned from football grounds for xenophobic comments so should a ref be judged to a lower standard? I think not.

Managers and players get charged if they comment on their own social media about football related topics and can be charged even if what they say/do is not directly releated to the sport on the grounds of bringing the games into disrepute by association. So what he has done falls under that.

As for the man away from the job and whether there is a genuine mental wellness issue.....that is something for trained professionals to evaluate but as one or two have said in the thread it is noticeable that claims of whatever ailment only tend to surface when one's actions bite them on the arse badly and not before.

That said, I would still lean towards only going after him professionally (and legally for the xenophobic side of things) though and leaving his personal life/family etc all out of the media spotlight.

His actions and words are fair game for harsh criticism and investigation as he has earned, again legally/professionally, what punishments he has bought with them.

It is not as though he, in time, cannot do what other people have to do in the real world when they mess up badly and eventually find another job away from football.

agree with all this and yes to be clear, when I said I hope he gets what’s coming to him, I meant losing his job- not advocating for anyone to kidnap him and teach him a lesson or anything
          I don't tip

I can’t get over the amount of sympathy he’s getting from mainstream media. I get that it must be a dark time for the guy, and can empathize, but he’s a grown man and should know better.

Haven’t heard a single person show any concern for klopp’s mental wellbeing in all this. Must not be nice waking up to a viral video of some lad calling you an arrogant German cunt, and then also seeing people in the media defending this?!?!

Also there’s a lot of victim blaming in the media and some posts on here. The narrative that “of course he would think this, look at how Klopp treats officials” is bull****. Noone was talking about that as an issue before this came out.

It absolutely should be. Look how biased the refs were during ferguson era, of which they admitted to being more favourable towards them. Give teams good calls and the others bad means said team ref is biased for does better and maybe even wins it. Meanwhile the teams they're biased against end up losing and affecting their end of season spot, which ends up costing the club millions and even the manager his job. The only difference between this and match fixing is ref didnt make any side money. Its still affecting the outcomes.

I have said this many times before, but I can't believe how stupid so many people in the public eye are to say some of the stuff they do. Not saying holding those views and keeping them to yourself is a good thing, but the stupidity of saying something that you know compromises yourself, your job, or whatever is a level of stupidity I can't get my head around. In the modern age of smart phones, the Internet and social media it seems obvious that this type of stuff will come out sooner or later.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

This 100%. Whatever biases he had is his own issue, as long as he tried to not let them influence his decisions (not trying to start something here on the level of bias)

But what a ****ing muppet for being recorded - he should be fired just for that judgement call, because if he can’t get that right, how is he going to do the rest of his job to any half decent standard

Yep, Klopp is as much a victim of the hate campaign that Coote waged for years against him

Haha, I think Klopp will be just fine.

You can only imagine the media clamouring for Klopp's thoughts at a press conference if he was still our manager.
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

Well that will be every PL PC for the next round of games, and after every controversial incident.
