Playing for the best club in the world, getting huge money, living in a lovely City & all the other sweeteners we don't know about... course he was going to sign. If in 4 years or so it doesn't work out, sure he'll be still only 20! He'll be rich & like so many other players that Madrid have shifted... he could go on a have a great career elsewhere.

No brainer for him to sign for Madrid... hope he has a mare the greedy prick

He'll have lost his love of football by then. Other 'hobbies' will occupy and excite his developing mind.

He might not even make it and he'll be a millionaire. I see Michael Johnson around here nearly every day - the ex-City lad. They paid up his contract - millions it was. Think he was on £30k a week from a young age and did **** all. Now I see him sitting outside the local bars on an almost daily basis. I think "you jammy ******* - **** all to do, not a care in the world and millions in the bank".

        What a jammy cunt.

Exactly. He could get injured in training next week, never come back properly, go ****, and still be sorted.

            He's secured his future.

It's such an uncertain game for the youngsters.

Madrid drop Odegaard amid claims he 'can't be bothered' with reserves

Martin Odegaard has been dropped from the Real Madrid Castilla B side amid reports that the much-hyped Norwegian teenager has not settled with his new colleagues in the European champions' reserve team.

Odegaard, 16, moved to the Spanish capital in January in a transfer which reportedly could end up worth €8 million after Madrid beat many of Europe's other top clubs to his signature.

Since then he has been training with stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale during the week and then joining up with the reserve team to play games at the weekend, a plan that appears to have hit a hitch.

Odegaard made his full Castilla debut in a Segunda B (third tier) fixture against Bilbao Athletic in early February, and scored his first goal for his new club in just his third outing -- a 4-0 win over Barakaldo.

However, results suffered after that, with Castilla losing four games in a row to drop out of the promotion places.

Odegaard then went to play for Norway's senior side in their 5-1 friendly defeat to Croatia during the recent international break, and in his absence his club side won against Las Palmas B by the same scoreline. Coach Zinedine Zidane then left the teenager out of Sunday's visit to Conquense, where the side won 2-0 to move back up to sixth position, a point outside the playoff zone.

Odegaard dropping out of the Castilla XI has highlighted the awkwardness of the situation, which has him training five days a week with Madrid's first team, and then dropping down to the reserve side with just one session to prepare for a match. This makes it difficult to work on tactical plans with the Castilla coaches, while language issues also make it more difficult to build a rapport with his teammates.

I don't think he's the type to get big headed just yet, and I don't his father would allow it. They have shown some of his games over here. The pitches has been some of the worst I've seen, and that includes lower division ones in Norway. It also clear he's been target Ed by the opposition. No-one wants to be made looke like a fool by a kid, so go in hard seems to do the trick. Having said that he has not played well, and I guess some time away for the limelight will do him well.

From what I've read he refuses to train with the reserves, which sounds strange. Surely the club decides where he trains? And from what I remember it was always the plan that he should start playing for the B team.
Maybe going toRM was too much to soon, but at 16 he still has a few years to get it right.

Yup, by all accounts he'll be something really special but should have stayed where he was for a while longer or at least found somewhere other than Madrid.

His old man shouldnt have allowed this to have gone on IMO

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
