I remember being 17, I remember I had my head in the clouds. Doesn't mean I lost my senses and logical thinking. After all I was 17, not 7. Even if the father was pushy, it just takes a few clicks on the internet nowadays to see other careers rotting away in similar if not THE SAME club you're looking at.

Mate I am not far from that age and I can promise you that if someone like that came in I wouldn't even bother considering. 17 is no age... even 20 years old seems too young to have to deal with the decisions and hype.

Fair enough, youth is stupid regardless. But seriously, you have the benefit of the internet and come on to forums like this daily. Discussions and comparisons to SWP, etc, are easily and constantly available.

Of course your head will be spinning to get a chance to be the next Zidane and play at the Bernabeu (spelling). But equally would you not consider that going to Real is the ultimate goal, not the first rung on the ladder? You don't want to be another squashed statistic of failed youngsters on a heap. Surely a club like Utd, Dortmund, Liverpool (loyalties aside) would be equally enthralling at that age? They're hardly backwater clubs as it is.

I agree that there are plenty of clubs the level below mate and he could have done better - just wouldn't be expecting kids to make the best decisions.
