It's all about Rooney, need to play him in his best position.Originally posted by Liverpool View PostIf Woy had any sense the last game will be a mixture of giving Gerrard/Lampard their swansong, blooding Shaw/Barkley. Just astonishing ineptitude. They deserve him.
Are we winning?

I'd give anyone who hasn't played a start, just complete new starting XI and let them have a run. When you look at some of the groups like Frances Christ luck has certainly played a part, played two games against two teams higher ranked and lost by one goal in each. Its not an embarrassment but it is an opportunity missed. Had we had a group like France or Argentina we would have qualified with ease. Thems the breaks. I wish we would play youth rather than just bring them along. Sterling is the only young player that has actually started.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

I honestly think this is down to Roy first and then the players, England has good players. On paper I don't there is much difference between the Italy/England/Uruguay/other countries, but the team was not setup the best way and for me shows Roy to the poor manager he is.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostWhen you look at some of the groups like Frances Christ luck has certainly played a part, played two games against two teams higher ranked and lost by one goal in each. Henderson and Gerrard in midfield doesn't work, we've tried it at Liverpool. It might have been OK against Italy but then you had the industry of Sterling in front of them. He should have played with a midfield three. He also shouldn't have switched positions of the MOM against Italy to accomodate Rooney.
Etc. etc.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I agree Roy must take a large portion of blame obviously. But in both games we lost we weren't outplayed. We held our own against Italy and had enough ball against Uruguay. Its fine margins. A different group and having played the same way, opinion would be different. Ultimately its the defence that has failed and we all knew it was weak. Johnson has been **** for months and jagielka isn't good enough. There aren't many options though. That's the reality. As for Rooney, I think every England manager would play him. I wouldn't personally but perhaps my hatred for utd is clouding my opinion.
On another note I find it funny the biggest critics on here are the ones that weren't bothered about England anyway. We tried we failed. Its life.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Will it be his last game though?Originally posted by Chazza View PostI would guess Gerrard will start in his last England game.
Lampard will get some minutes before he retires. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
