Cards picked up in qualifiers count in tournaments?Originally posted by topscorer View PostFriendly game cards count for other friendly games and tournament game cards count for tournaments.
The only ones that don't count are unofficial friendlies and England don't have many of them. Teams like Mexico and Brazil have loads of unofficial friendlies using players that play in their own local leagues.
Didn't Rooney miss a couple of game at the last Euro's because of a red card in a qualifier?

Yeeeeeaaaahhhhh.......TBH it was a bit of a reckless challenge, and by the rules, it doesn't matter whether or not you make contact with the ball. If the ref judges you to be using excessive force, or out if control, he can sanction the challenge.
Also, it was a friendly, pre-World Cup, so I wouldn't like to be seeing challenges going in like that on a regular basis during these friendlies.
That said, I do agree that the ref probably only went with the red because Valencia was walking after his hissy fit. Yellow should have sufficed, and a noose for Valencia."I will make the boys feel your support"

Hodgson - "I was pleased with the way Wayne Rooney played. I was happy he scored his goal and how he interpreted the position. I thought it was a well merited and a prestigious draw against a good Ecuador team."
Prestigious? What the fck lol? I'm not having a go at the result or our performance but to call it a prestigious draw. Bloody hell!
"Raheem Sterling's sending-off was harsh. I am a bit disappointed a senior player like Antonio Valencia reacted in that way. It is a pity because I was looking forward to seeing him play on Saturday but it looks like that won't be possible [because of his one-match suspension]."
Hope it doesn't affect his chances of being picked for the World Cup proper now that he cannot play in the next friendly. I wonder if their is any avenue to appeal the red?

To anyone who follows/watches Ecuador (I don't) - how strong was their team they put out tonight, full-strength or experimenting like us?
If it was their strong[est] team I don't think we have to fear Uruguay as Ecuador finished above them (albeit goal difference) in the South American WC qualifiers table

Not at all. They been with the squad all this time and have trained with them, so its extremely fair of him to involve them. Basically he's blooding them for the future without any pressure on them. Plus it means he's able to save a few of the others from picking up niggles etc.Originally posted by Gazzla View PostI'm made up that Flanagan got his first cap but why on earth is Hodgson giving game to to stones and Flanagan in world cup warm up games when they aren't even in his squad? Hodgson really is a ****ing idiot
Excellent management. There will be plenty of reasons to knock the hodge in the coming weeks, this isn't one of them.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

The linesman's face to Sterling's tackle was a joke as well. He looked like he had just witnessed a murder. Also what ws with the dramatic pulling out of the red card from the ref.Originally posted by leftpeg View PostYou come to play in the States, you get MLS referees. Notoriously bad.
Here's a recent incident involving tonight's referee, if you need an idea of what you're dealing with. It's not the only one concerning this particular ref.

That ref has to be the MLS's Howard Webb.

Honestly, it's hard to comprehend how bad the MLS refs are on the whole, unless you've seen them week in and week out.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostThat ref has to be the MLS's Howard Webb.
Believe me, Howard Webb would be a marked improvement. I can't believe I just said that.
