I thought he did well enough today. Problem still seems to be a disjoint between the defensive players and the attack. I think The massive amount of ground that we are asking the DM and fullbacks to cover means they will always look exposed.

I always think baines looks average at this level, a good steady premier league player but Cole is still the better player.

I can see that point of view. Certainly think that if Cole had played more for Chelsea he would have been my preferred option. As it is I think we had to take as fully fit/match sharp a squad as we could. To be honest I think Rooney and Wilshere have looked off the pace which seems like more than enough players to be having to nurse back to shape.

I'm still recovering from the shock of Hodgson going so far with the young players. Shaw in particular.
