Absolutely agree. Wasn't too impressed how we handled him since he's a fairly good player. Was a bit disappointed to see him go while other more useless ones stay for multiple seasons.

I think the pressure he put himself under to perform - combined with a system not suited to his game - made him look poor. I can imagine he was keen to prove the club wrong for letting him go as well as doing well for his boyhood club. I can imagine he was desperate to score at Anfield, but such was his desperation, it resulted in him snatching at chances and feeling like he was running through glue.

It's a shame it didn't work out for him, but I hope he does really well for West Brom this season.

Loving some of the excuses that people are coming out with on this thread.

He wasn't good enough for Liverpool. Should never, ever have been signed.

We were meant to be challenging for the title last season. You won't win the league signing the likes of Ricky Lambert.

I don't think Lambert or Ings were been signed to lead our line; They've both been signed to score goals from the bench or to cover for injury.

We can't have four world class strikers, we have to have able deputies.
