Thank God no ****er gets rich taking bungs so they could host the biggest football competition on the planet.

Fifa sponsor Coke has welcomed Sepp Blatter's decision to resign, describing it as "a positive step" for football.
Mr Blatter has said he will resign as president of football's governing body Fifa amid a corruption scandal.
Coke said it believed the move would help "Fifa to transform itself rapidly" into a "21st Century institution".
The drinks giant added that it expected Fifa would continue to "act with urgency" to address the issues raised.
Last week, Fifa was hit by the arrests on charges of racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering as part of a US prosecution that also indicted 14 people.
Mr Blatter was subsequently re-elected, but on Tuesday resigned, saying that his mandate "did not appear to be supported by everybody".
Coke's statement said: "We respect Mr. Blatter's decision. The announcement today is a positive step for the good of sport, football and its fans.
"Our expectation remains that Fifa will continue to act with urgency to take concrete actions to fully address all of the issues that have been raised and win back the trust of all who love the sport of football.
"We believe this decision will help Fifa transform itself rapidly into a much-needed 21st Century structure and institution," it concluded
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

                Just seen this

It seems odd given he's just been re-elected, there must be something about to come out.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Meh, some governments have done a lot worse, not that it makes these look any better. I would care if it was about the moral aspect, but it isn't, it's about hosting the biggest competition on the planet, just like you said.

                    Yup, Platini.

It was through the support of Blatter that Platini got to head UEFA and I've wondered who exactly was using who. Platini said recently that he wouldn't stand for FIFA president whilst Blatter was still around, now he surely will. I wouldn't be surprised if this has all been arranged between them.

Platini's support for the Qatar bid clearly shows he is no cleaner than Blatter.
                    Never knowingly optimistic

I know it's not the thread to have the argument but it's pretty cynical to only care about the most serious thing and be so disinterested in anything that falls short of that level.

Prince William and Piers Morgan are 200/1 to be the next president, Raheem Sterling and Kolo Toure are both 500/1

Its taken 6 days for the house of cards to tumble down.

What a total farce that election was on Friday. Now we will have another 3 months of candidates and most likely Platini will be the front runner. Would really like a new broom, and someone who has a bit of knowledge outside of the footballing arena.
                              *Except Michael, who died.

Every fifa delegate should be replaced imo, a total and utter clean sweep.
