Wouldn't say corrupt. Think he felt a huge weight of pressure to give them everything though.

Imagine sending Neymar off. He would have been done for in the tournament. Was the same sort of situation with Webb 4 years ago. Sheer weight of responsibility is too much some times.

I was embarrassed for Brasil after the ref awarded that pen. The better 'team' lost last night and if Mandzukic was available it would have been all over for Brasil way before that pen. Some impressive performances from Croatia.

He gave them absolutely everything. Difficult no to wonder, especially with that shower at FIFA.

Same here I have to admit. I was tired of it before it even started. I used to be excited about WCs, but I'm getting old I'm afraid.

Probably didn't help it was the ref that red carded Melo 4 years ago against Netherlands, and practically got them out of the tournament. Should a strange decision putting him on the opening game... with Brazil... at home... a lot of pressure...

Apparently he was the 4th official at the World Cup final last time. Very highly thought off similar to Webb.

He is probably one of those inexplicable refs who get given huge games because they make the least mistakes. Trouble is the mistakes they do make are always game changing. Not something like getting a throw in wrong.

How can an industry which makes billions upon billions globally every month put itself in a position where crucial outcomes are decided by people who are not always capable of making the correct decision, without any tools to assist them, under a pressure so immense that it's almost impossible for you and I to comprehend.

That in itself is almost impossible for me to comprehend in this day and age. ****ing amateurs, the muppets in charge,

The ref was really good at drawing a very straight line with that magic spray though.

And how ridiculous was it having a goal line technology replay for the goal? It hit the back of the net FFS.

                          Yeah, we loved that line.

I tend to agree. But all other high profile/stake sports have assistance for the ref. Pretty much without exception.

Think of Rugby, Cricket or NFL. When money is on the line, these things become even more important.
