Like a number of players brought in last summer he didn't really get alot of chances. I thought he was ok when he played, but missed out when we went to a back 3, not sure why he didn't come back in when we changed to a back 4 at the end of the season.

Not sure much blame can be levelled at Rodgers here. Manquillo came in, looked okay in places but offered little going forward and was suspect defensively at the back. He certainly wasn't mismanaged; Manquillo came in, was dropped and was never going to get a look in when we reverted to three at the back.
With Wisdom returning and Clyne signing, there's no point him being here.

I think it is a difficult one, he is a relatively young player who is new to the club and the league, it is going to take time for any player to adapt. Personally I don't think he was given enough chances to definatively say whether he was good enough or not. The change of system effectively ended his chances of a game, because he isn't suited to a wing back role. I would be interested to know what has motivated us sending him back now. With Clyne in and Johnson out we are effectively where we were last summer in terms of cover, Flanagan is out for a while so are we going to use Wisdom as cover at RB?Originally posted by Muddled View PostNot sure much blame can be levelled at Rodgers here. He did alright and I think he's going to be a good player, it wasn't his fault that we switched to a back 3 last season and with, presumably, Wisdom back-up for the right back position this season there isn't really much need for him.
....or we're sticking with three at the back...

I'd be surprised if we went into the season with Wisdom as our back-up RB. I actually wouldn't be surprosed to see him leave in August, unless Rodgers is planning on playing 3 at the back again and using him at RCB.
It's a shame too as I still think there is a decent CB in there. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

This is also my thinking based on his 2 strikers of Benteke and Sturridge with Coutihno and Firmino both dropping of the front two and free roaming, and another 3 in midfield!Originally posted by RedReet View PostI'd be surprised if we went into the season with Wisdom as our back-up RB. just speculating ......can't see BR dropping Milner,Henderson and Can[after what he said] add the 2 Brazilians and Sturridge and Benteke thats' 7 teams places occupied,gk spot taken care of leaves 3 places, although Sturridge won't be back yet i'm think slightly ahead....probably wrong but you can see the dilemmas coming BR's way re team selection.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostSurely we wouldn't have just signed Clyne if we were planning to stick with 3 at the back

I don't think he was ever bought in with the expectation of playing much if at all. Johnson and Flanagan were both ahead of him. Injuries meant he got thrown in. He looked OK at best. Rodgers was seeing him in training everyday. The 3 at the back left him out of the picture. Can's confidence won't have been done any long term damage by playing him at right back. Should be character building if anything. Plenty of young players get shifted about early in their careers. There may be a time we need to switch him there in game due to injuries etc and having played there before will be helpful.Originally posted by ric.williams View Postanother player not given a chance. think he'd have been better playing RB than ruining emre cans confidenceAlways borrow money from a pessimist. Doesn't sound like either of you dickheads know what you're talking about. It's YET ANOTHER example of Rodgers doing something wrong, ok?I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

I don't think we will, well at least we won't start the season with it, but why would signing Clyne be an idication that we won't? He is afterall a very attacking full back.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostSurely we wouldn't have just signed Clyne if we were planning to stick with 3 at the backIf we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
