Yeah, it wasn't said with venom, which would have been pretty despicable. It wasn't 'just a joke' either though, he was trying to get at her and chose to do it that way even if it was lightened by passing it off as humour.

He definitely shouldn't have said it, but upon listening to the clip - he was clearly trying to be 'playful'. That said hitting women isn't really a safe area for a bit of light banter, on or off camera and it was more than slightly passive aggressive.

I think he will be made an example of. Footballs reputation is bad enough without bringing the obvious sexism that exists into it.

Not really related to the recent headlines he's been getting but I wonder what will happen to him next career-wise. Sunderland look nailed on to go down, so you would imagine he'll be looking for a new job soon. Given his dire record at Sunderland and Sociedad, his record on paper at Man Utd was decent but not good enough for a top club. But I see him as a Hodgson type manager, who no matter how many terrible jobs he does some PL club will still appoint him. It'll be interesting to ssee if that is the case.
