Well as BT have increased by about 25% (edit: nearer 30 actually) but got an extra 4 games for their trouble so probably did bid big for the others but never expected that Sky would go so much in excess of the previous level. I reckon with the £12bn they splashed out on EE they probably didn't have any more to spend. Given the disparity in what the two paid, looks like BT were left with scraps rather than packages they set out for. The redistribution of the first picks was interesting.
A rough calculation - if you take the average Sky are paying per match now, and the average audience for Super Sunday, then they are paying more than four times more per viewer than Fox pay in the States for each NFL viewer of their matches.
Obviously there are subscription costs that heavily mitigate that, but it's still crazy.
