    Memphis Depay

    'This is for you, Gee'

He's liked something on Facebook that relates to Liverpool. His agent says he's 99.9% certain to join a Premier League club. Rodgers won't even talk to the media about him.

    He has YouTube compilations:

    [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpU9uIduZAE"]Memphis Depay 2015 ● Best Skills & Goals | PSV | HD - YouTube[/ame]

We have a thread for Morgan Schneiderlin on the back of somebody liking him, but nothing for Memphis Depay who is linked to us everywhere.

So for all of you that believe in 'tempting fate' ... soz, but it's on.

*Disclaimer - I have seen very little of Depay.

Why are fans getting excited about this one?
I thought everyone had agreed we need experienced, proven players?
        Depay is 21.

What's the guarantee he isn't the next Ryan Babel?
Or Alfonso Alves for that matter?
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Well if we are going 433 we need at least one wide player who can actually score goals. So I guess he is needed. But I hope this isn't the only attacking player we have in mind. He's not a striker which is what we also need.

I kind of agree with the experienced proven players bit, but Depay looks the absolute tits and probably one of those players (like Markovic ) that if available, we should get before he's out of reach

He can play as a striker too, which is handy seeing as we've got 20 million players in his preferred 'wide attacker' position anyway
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

                Off to Chelsea.
The other 40 players they bought don't give them options, and God forbid a young player would be brought through..

                  Booooo!!

He's scored the same number of league goals this season as Balotelli, Sturridge, Lambert, Borini, Coutinho, Sterling and Markovic combined.

Yes, it's in a lesser league, but ... GOALS, man! We miss GOALS!

And we love a transfer saga.

No guarantees but by all accounts he's been the standout player in the Dutch league this year. He's also a regular in the Dutch squad. He's got a lot of experience for once so young and has shown marked improvement this year. This kid looks more like Eden Hazard, than a flop. One who has dominated in his league and is ready to take the next up.

I'm only asking because it seems to me that we've all got a hard on for him because he's Dutch, linked with Utd and now there's a media sniff that were at the front of the queue to sign him everyone goes overboard.
We're going to sign someone Utd want, he must be amazing.

He doesn't guarantee (as much as anyone can) that he'll score goals in the PL and get us back to the top 4 does he.

                      No different to Ings really.
Except that Ings has proven he can score goals in the PL in a poor team, set up to defend.

When Depay signs for Utd (if they want him, he'll choose them over us 100%)same ones on here will be saying how **** and overrated he is

'Not seen much of Depay' - ok, absolutely no problem with that, but then why do you feel such a strong urge to make statements like that? That we're all excited about him because United want him?

Some people have seen him play and he's really good.
I think he 'guarantees' a bit more than Danny Ings to be honest, one's got 26 goals this season, helping PSV to a title after smth like 5 years, 15 caps for The Netherlands, 2 goals in the World Cup where he was shortlisted for young player of the tournament with Varane and Pogba... The other hasn't scored since what, the start of March?

I mean yes he could fail and Danny Ings could still somehow turn out to be the next Harry Kane, but counting on that would be, in my opinion, a slightly bigger risk than buying Depay.

ON the other hand, they might both come to Liverpool, Ings being a cheapy squad option and Depay being a marquee one. Everyone would be happy.

Depay's going to be a long drawn out process though isn't it? We're very rarely treated to link, speculation and then decisive signing.
