So We'll have Depay, Origi, Ings & probably Ballotelli as cannot see anyone stupid enough to offer us good terms to buy him off us!...more like the other way around if we are desperate enough to get rid!
Anyhow, was hoping one or two of the youngsters will be promoted this summer.

Depay will be our transfer saga of the summer as mooted in posts above...He'll be well worth the wait!
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

Depay's going to be a long drawn out process though isn't it? We're very rarely treated to link, speculation and then decisive signing.
I honestly think this one will get done quicker than normal. If we wait & United don't get Bale, then we'd potentially be screwed. And I don't think United will get Bale. I hope & expect that the club have learned about dragging their feet over transfers. I also hope we are monitoring plenty of alternatives.
      Forwards.......

The Memphis Depay thread, soon to follow the likes of the Sanchez thread, the Costa thread, the Willian thread, Mikhitryan thread in the doldrums of EST.

Probably a foolish thing for me to think and post but I reckon we've got a much better chance of Depay than any of those named above. Willian seemed a bit last-ditch and desperate....Sanchez was always a long-shot and by the sounds of it we never really stood a chance of Mkhitaryan. But, as I've said before, we have gone balls out for Depay and have been wining and dining him, as it were, for ages, with LFC delegations going out to watch him and speak to his people nearly every week for over a year. He *might* choose us over United because of the effort we've put in....we've shown him how much we want him and that stuff usually means something to a player. He's guaranteed regular football - not the case at United.

Has Brendan spoken to him do you know?

I ask because of an interesting point made on TAW podcast a few weeks back that when we signed Torres and Mascherano it was Rafa doing all the talking. I remember reading that at the time but had forgotten about it. That stuff is very important going to meet them numerous times to sell them the club and his vision yet we seem to send Ayre to do that now. Wenger met with Sanchez before lasts summers world cup too apparently. Stuff like that could easily swing it your way.

                          Absolutely no idea mate.

And yeah I totally agree. Rafa using salt and pepper pots to demonstrate his tactical ideas to Mascherano ....and sweet talking Torres. That stuff is definitely vital.

Also, for his faults, Brendan is a good and persuasive talker. He can use his NLP tricks too.

Yeah I'd much rather Brendan doing the persuading that Ian Ayre. I don't think he does though, its been mentioned a few times that Ayre does the negotiations.

Some people have seen him play and he's really good.
I think he 'guarantees' a bit more than Danny Ings to be honest, one's got 26 goals this season, helping PSV to a title after smth like 5 years, 15 caps for The Netherlands, 2 goals in the World Cup where he was shortlisted for young player of the tournament with Varane and Pogba... The other hasn't scored since what, the start of March?

I mean yes he could fail and Danny Ings could still somehow turn out to be the next Harry Kane, but counting on that would be, in my opinion, a slightly bigger risk than buying Depay.

Because I'm asking questions about Depay not making statements.
Every single poster on here has said we need 2 things -
                              1. Experienced, proven players. Winners, our squad is too young.
                              2. Guaranteed goals, we haven't scored enough and Sturridge is injury prone.

So the point I'm making is that Depay doesn't 100% guarantee to solve either of those, the comparison with Ings is that he doesn't either.

Ings is 22, Depay is 21.
One has most raving, the other has most feeling meh.

As I said, Depay might be like Ryan Babel, he looked great at a similar age as well.
He might be the next Ronaldo.
He might be more like Nani.

No one knows so why all the raving over him?

How many goals do you think Sterling would score playing for PSV in the Dutch league?
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Depay has looked good in a world cup(although a bit briefly) too, to be fair.

It won't happen though, it's Liverpool FC we never get our main target.
