The revelation was made by Jaime Lorenzo, the president of Raqui San Isidro, the first professional club that Pedro played for in Spain.
Lorenzo told radio station Cadena Ser: ‘The player was here working at a soccer school a few weeks back and his friends already know he is going.'
'And the other day I saw Pedro’s mum in a furniture shop and she told me that he is going to England. I believe it's a good challenge for him and it means he will get more playing time.’
The Spanish fourth tier side San Isidro, based in the Canary Islands, are set to earn £317,000 if the £22million transfer goes through.
Pedro played for them in the 2003 season scoring 35 goals for their B-team, making his debut when he was just 17 in their first team; and then signing for Barcelona in 2004.
