Thanjk you.

Stop being so sensible Dave and let us have a moan.
Everyone else is great at transfers and we are crap.
(I do think he was sold on the cheap though. Young, plenty of potential, England cap to his name etc.)
£6m was on the low side but the additional 30% that we'll receive softens the blow.
Personally I don't think he'll ever be a top-level player. He's good but his best position is as a number ten where he can play instinctively. Not a fan of him in midfield.

It looks like he'll play deeper at Newcastle too, with Sissoko and Wijnaldum already there.
I'm not sure what I think his best position is, I remember saying when he was here that we should find a role for him and develop him in that role, but he was played in various different positions.
I still have a soft spot for him though and hope he does well, although I was expecting his move from Swansea to be to a bigger club than Newcastle, so I now tend to agree with whoever it was on here who said he'll probably have a career of moving to mid-low table PL teams every few years throughout his career.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
Kramer is no more an International than Shelvey is, and given the latter's creativity, I don't think £12m is massively overpaying personally
My point was that there is better value out there - a player of Shelvey's level in Spain or Germany wouldn't cost anywhere near that. We paid £15m for Joe Allen ffs.
Look at some of the best young midfielders and what they cost - Geis to Schalke €10m, Weigl to Dortmund €2m, Allan to Napoli €10m, Danilo to Valencia €13m, Kranevitter to Atletico €8m and imagine players of similar potential and what they'd cost if they were premiership proven.
Anyway we will all have different opinions and I am sure Shelvey will do relatively all right for the Geordies but for £12m there is better value in the market.
Id be surprised if Klopp wasn't all over him for 10m. He's a quality young CM.

"looking through your posts since 2007 and what you have consistently written about my football team I have come to the conclusion that if you had 1 more brain cell you would be a plant .. your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elder berries, I fart in your general direction ..." Nicey
Kramer is a very talented guy. Never rated Shelvey, decent passer and lovely strike of the ball to be fair to him but he's painfully slow, needs so much time on the ball & he's a bit of a wild card. Getting into the German midfield vs getting into the England midfield is a different kettle of fish.
If we wanted a CM/DM that excels in gegenpressing & also has physical stature and is technically excellent... Kramer would have been perfect.
