    Money laundering?

They ways seem to attract massive fees for their players.

Luiz £50m & Oscar £60m are two notable examples.

In this case i think Hazard may well be worth the £80+m

But they also seem to spot the right players, their recruitment is very good. They don't throw money away on silly purchases like we do. How many of their purchases have been poor really? We are always taking chacnes on players that might come good, they have the luxury of buying the finished product. Kante was excellent business, and Matic as well, not everybody would spend so much money on players like that but they did in fairness to them.

Eh? That's because they buy everyone, loan them out and any that don't work out are forgotten about. Some recent examples being Batshuayi, Baba Rahman, Filipe Luis, Remy, Cuadrado and Salah and we'll not mention some of the big ones like Torres, Shevchenko (edit: I just did ).

I also think having an excellent manager saved them some embarrassment this summer as on paper, Alonso and Luiz seemed vastly overpriced.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The last couple of years I think they have done well IMO. Batshuayi doesn't get minutes because they have been incredible fortunate with injuries, I'm not goingto defend their earlier business But last two or three years, I feel they are doing well in recruitment.

We have our own skeletons in the closet if we go far enough

In these cases they made their money back and the players have excelled with their new clubs, you could add Lukaku and De Bruyne to that list also for players who didn't succeed at Chelsea and did well elsewhere after they sold them.

Matic & Luiz being other examples that they bought back!

So did we with Benteke, but he was still a poor signing. Likewise United with DiMaria, he was a great player before they signed him, a great player after they sold him, but he wasn't a great signing and you don't have to be a great scout when you have that sort of money to spend.

And that was the point I was making about Chelsea, they can afford to throw tens of millions of pounds at players that get nowhere near their first team and they do. We can't afford to spend that sort of money and send a player on loan or just cut our losses if it doesn't work out. Yes they have made some astute signings such as Matic and Kante, but others such as Fabregas, Hazard, Costa, hardly take a top class scouting team. Our much maligned transfer committee wanted Hazard and Costa too, along with almost every other top team.

I admit that they are a much better run club in recent years, but i don't think transfer wise they are as good as Weatherman is making out, likewise I don't think we are just as bad as he's suggesting.

The first part in bold I agree with - they can get most any player and if they don't work out then they sell or loan him. Added to that they can also pay much bigger wages than us + have London so another edge on us.

The second part in bold is more complicated. The problem we had is that we bought players randomly not fitting a plan or system - sell Suarez and then target Sanchez () miss out on Sanchez and buy Balotelli (). Rodgers vs the committee - I have Benteke so you can have Firmino but neither suited playing with each other. With Klopp he has a plan and a set way of playing so who he buys should fit that, miss target A but target B is a similar fit. I now believe we will get better at buying.

Chelsea are odd though - they chop and change managers and I have no doubt that Roman sticks his oar in when going after players he likes (Shevchenko being the best example). Managers have particular formations and styles so fitting the players into this doesn't always work. If as we suspect they stick with Conte then they will buy to suit is 3 CB tactic + wing backs but if he gets the bullet then some players might not for the next manager.

Yeah, he was a good player at RM hence the 50m+ fee. He just wasn't well used by Man U. He didn't instantly become good after United sold him.

But yeah, i agree with the general gist of your point... spending £25m on the likes of kante takes not a rocket scientist.

Doesn't matter if it takes a scientist or not. We've been spunking our admittedly little load on players like Luis Alberto, Aspas, Illori, Borini, Allen and other mediocre to **** players in order to pad out the squad, leading to a revolving door of **** in **** out.

Wilfried Zaha is worth at least £40m in the summer transfer market, Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce has insisted.

"Personally, in today's market, absolutely (he's worth £40m). I just hope no one bids it," Allardyce said ahead of a crucial clash with Tottenham,
