Scolari picked Jo & Fred in the last WC who must have been the worst in Brazilian history. You could probably say that this must be the worst time for Brazilian No 9s in recent history. Gabigol might buck that trend though.

        Adam Lallana 19 England caps
        Mario Balotelli 33 Italy caps
        Dejan Lovren 30 Croatia Caps
        Joe Allen 22 Wales caps

At the end of the season we will sit down at the negotiating table. Teixeira has a compensation charge in his contract – the price is €70m. Please, if someone wants him – let them come and declare themselves."

I fully agree with them, you want our star player, you pay the buy out clause, it is what it's for.

Lesson for future, don't even entertain signing a player from Ukraine, ever, regardless of talent.

Agree about dealing with these play-thing clubs - they are all gangsters in that part of the world anyway.

Lol, while 'the West' is a prime example of gangster-free, legitimate and morally indisputable business

If that was us we'd be ****in furious if someone tried to sign our top scorer in the middle of the season (remember?) for €32m. What they told us now we should have told Madrid, Chelsea, Barca etc., in the past; pay ridiculous money or **** off.

Knowing full well how these guys do business, why the hell did Ayre even go over there? He'd have been better just picking up the phone and saving time, money, resources in entertaining them.

We must have just looked bloody desperate rocking up at their place with a "Please can we have him for 30m Euros?" note in our possession...

I'm sure there will have been some signals from both parties that a deal could be discussed this month, hence the meeting. Much like the Firmino deal, Ayre looked to move quickly and I really don't think Liverpool, Ayre or FSG come out this looking bad. I certainly don't think Ayre will have looked desperate. As FluxKev and others have quite rightly touched on, why should we overpay? They say €50m, we up our offer only for them to ask for €70m; they're just not in need of money and, as pointed out, they're difficult to negotiate with. It doesn't mean we simply shouldn't try though.

Each player will have a maximum value (rightly or wrongly) and we simply can't keep throwing money away.
