Liverpool given hope in pursuit of Bayern Munich star Gotze

Liverpool have been offered renewed hope that they could sign Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich, according to reports.

On Monday, Gotze suggested he would stay at Bayern and fight for his place under new boss Carlo Ancelotti, despite interest from his former manager Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

However, on Thursday the Bavarian’s chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge urged the attacking midfielder to consider his future at the club as the 23-year-old is still expected to struggle for first-team football.

And according to German outlet Bild, the Bundesliga champions have once more lowered their asking price for Gotze, who came to prominence under the guidance of Klopp at Borussia Dortmund.

The report suggests Bayern were initially holding out for €40million for the Germany international, before cutting the asking price €25million.

It has now emerged that Gotze could be available for even less, with Bayern planning for life without the World Cup winner.
