It will be interesting to see what role Klopp sees players in, particularly in the attacking roles. With the players we have now you would imagine that it will be 4 from these 7: Sturridge, Origi, Ings, Coutinho, Firmino, Mane and Lallana (plus, Markovic, Ibe an Ojo as backups). That's before we sign anyone else even from that the roles aren't obvious as most players want to play through the middle.

I think we needed an extra goal scoring midfielder and a forward (assuming Benteke goes). I could see us filling those two positions with Gotze and Mane if we have the money available.

But depending what system we play next year, for the forward slots we have Sturridge, Ings, Origi, Firmino, Mane, Lallana and Coutinho for probably four positions. Would an additional forward be overkill?

What I liked last year was having four or five players contribute 10-12 goals each and Gotze would also give us that. I prefer it to the days of when we relied on Torres to stay injury-free and score 25 goals.

I think you're right to discard Benteke as it looks certain he and Balotelli will go. I guess Markovic will probably be sold and Ojo loaned out. Plus we will have injuries and suspensions.

So maybe we do have room for Gotze.

I don't see this now with Mane bought and some talk of Lacazette (proper striker) another No 10 is hugely unlikely.

I think a lot depends on how we want to setup. I think Lallana may well become a runner from a deeper midfield position. In a 4-3-3 we would have space for a 3 attackers, potentially a creative deep player and Lallana IMO.

Given that we have to have injury concerns about Sturridge and Ings (plus Origi being a developing player) I think we definitely have a spot for another attacking player. If Klopp thinks Ojo (or any other fringe or young player) is worthy of that spot I would be happy to give them the chance. However, a potentially top class player like Gotze would be hard/impossible to turn down IMO.
